Job Purpose

The Cloud Network Engineer will be part of the on-call support team for the new Fortinet IPS firewall system for SaaS production. The network engineer is part of the Cloud Security team supporting production endpoints, vulnerability scanning and firewall configurations. This role will work with internal Revvity teams across the organization to remediate and solve network and security vulnerability issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrate in-depth understanding of networking to include routing, switching, firewall (stateful/stateless), network monitoring and management.
• Expertise in designing, configuring, implementing, and troubleshooting these various technologies and protocols.
• Expertise with Amazon Web Services (AWS) demonstrating experience designing, configuring, provisioning, and deploying solutions specifically at the network layer.
• Excellent ability to collaborate with other IT disciplines (e.g. Storage, Platform, Application) to troubleshoot and resolve complex problems.
• Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases.
• Drive enhancements through full life cycle from concept to final implementation and support
• Participate in disaster recovery development, exercises, and actual events.
• Collaborate with staff to support quality and maintainable systems.
• Contribute directly to the technical work of one or more projects.
• Participate in 24x7 on call rotation and assist in resolving issues outside normal business hours.
• Maintain systems and documentation as needed for audits and compliance.
• Strong desire to keep technical skills current and remain abreast of emerging technologies.

Skills & Experience

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in Cloud Networking.
• Overlay networking (Calico, VXLAN) , BGP Peering with external RR/ EVPN ,ARISTA products Fabric is preferable.
• Hands on Experience in implementing and supporting Service Mesh environments (ISTIO/CONSUL).
• Deep understanding of Routed (IPv4, IPv6) and Routing Protocol (BGP - Mandatory)
• VLAN and inter VLAN configuration, Static route configuration
• Deep understanding of Consul DC topology, inter Consul DC traffic, Service mesh control and data plane traffic management
• Configuration, Operations & administrations of Envoy proxies.
• Good understanding of how LACP, STP, OSPF and MP-BGP work.
• Good experience of Python and Ansible for network automation
• Relevant Certifications will be an added advantage.
• Can contribute to python code or write it from the blank page
• Working knowledge of Network nodes (Switch, Firewall, LB etc
• Good understanding of OpenStack and Kubernetes
• Good understanding of Leaf and Spine architecture.
• High customer excellence skills, both with internal and external customers.
• Exercising diplomacy when operating in a high-performance environment.
• Active listening skills with a keen acumen for problem solving and decision making.
• Ability to react and execute quick solutions in critical situations.
