Cloudera Platform Engineer
Role Summary
We are seeking a skilled Cloudera Platform Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain enterprise big data platforms. The role involves managing the Cloudera ecosystem, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance for data-intensive applications, while collaborating with data engineering, analytics, and DevOps teams.
Key Responsibilities
Deploy, configure, and manage the Cloudera platform (CDH/Cloudera Data Platform) and related components (HDFS, Hive, HBase, Spark, Impala, Kafka)
Monitor and optimize cluster performance, scalability, and security
Implement high availability, disaster recovery, and backup strategies for Cloudera clusters
Work with DevOps teams to automate deployment and management using tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
Troubleshoot complex issues in Hadoop ecosystem components and integrations
Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and regulatory standards
Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to support ingestion, processing, and analytics workloads
Maintain patching, upgrades, and version control of the Cloudera environment
Required Skills & Qualifications
Strong hands-on experience with Cloudera platform (CDH/CDP) and Hadoop ecosystem
Expertise in HDFS, Hive, HBase, Spark, Impala, Kafka, and YARN
Proficiency in Linux/Unix administration
Experience with scripting languages (Shell, Python, Bash)
Knowledge of cluster monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting
Understanding of security frameworks (Kerberos, Ranger, Sentry)
Good to Have
Experience with cloud deployments of Cloudera (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Familiarity with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) for big data workloads
Exposure to CI/CD for data platforms
Understanding of data pipelines, ETL, and analytics workflows
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
5+ years of experience in Hadoop/Cloudera platform engineering or big data administration
