Job Summary

The Chinese Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of authentic Chinese dishes according to established recipes and restaurant standards. This role ensures high quality, consistency, and presentation of food, maintains kitchen hygiene and safety, and supports smooth kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook traditional and modern Chinese cuisine following recipes and portion guidelines. Ensure quality, taste, and consistency of all dishes served. Assist in menu planning and development of seasonal specials. Maintain proper food storage, stock rotation, and inventory control. Keep kitchen workstations clean, organized, and sanitary at all times. Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards. Work collaboratively with kitchen staff and assist in training junior cooks as needed. Monitor kitchen equipment; report malfunctions or repair needs. Help control food costs through waste reduction and efficient practices.

Qualifications & Skills

Proven experience as a Chinese Cook or similar culinary role in a restaurant or hotel. Strong knowledge of Chinese cooking techniques, ingredients, and flavor profiles. Culinary certificate/diploma preferred (but not always required). Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Good communication and teamwork skills. Flexible to work shifts, weekends, and holidays. Knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen cleanliness standards.

Preferred (Optional)

Experience in Chinese specialty restaurants or specific regional cuisines (e.g., Szechuan, Cantonese). Supervisory or team leadership experience. Basic English language skills for communication in multicultural kitchens.

Working Conditions
