Job Description

A Chinese Commis 1 is an entry-level or junior chef who assists senior chefs in preparing and cooking various Chinese dishes, focusing on tasks like food preparation (chopping vegetables, marinating meats), maintaining a clean and organized workstation, and ensuring high standards of hygiene and safety. Key responsibilities include following recipes accurately, managing inventory, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the kitchen during service hours. Core responsibilities

Food Preparation:

Perform mise en placeby prepping ingredients such as washing and chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and preparing sauces according to recipes.

Cooking:

Assist in cooking various Chinese dishes like stir-fries, soups, noodles, and fried rice under the guidance of senior chefs.

Quality and Presentation:

Ensure all dishes are prepared to the specified standards, consistently in flavor and presentation.

Hygiene and Safety:

Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation and follow all health and safety regulations.

Inventory Management:

Assist with stock control, properly store ingredients, and report low stock levels.

Team Support:

Work collaboratively with the rest of the kitchen team, assist other sections when needed, and help with tasks during busy periods.

Learning and Development:

Learn new recipes and cooking techniques and follow instructions from head chefs for professional growth.
