The Chinese Commis 1 assists in the preparation and cooking of Chinese cuisine dishes, ensuring high standards of food quality, taste, and hygiene. They work under the supervision of the Chef de Partie or Sous Chef in the Chinese kitchen section.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook Chinese dishes according to standard recipes
Assist senior chefs during food preparation and service
Handle mise en place for the Chinese section
Operate kitchen equipment such as woks and steamers safely
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the work area
Follow food safety and sanitation standards
Store food properly and reduce wastage
Maintain portion control and presentation standards
Support smooth kitchen operations during service
Required Skills & Qualifications
Basic knowledge of Chinese cooking techniques (wok frying, steaming, sauces)
Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen
Good teamwork and communication skills
Willingness to learn and follow instructions
Prior experience in a Chinese kitchen preferred
