assists senior chefs in preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality Chinese dishes. This role requires solid basic cooking skills, knowledge of Chinese ingredients and techniques, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen.
Key ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation & Cooking
Prepare ingredients (cutting, marinating, portioning) according to Chinese culinary standards.
Cook dishes using Chinese techniques such as stir-frying, steaming, braising, roasting, and deep-frying.
Follow recipes and instructions from senior chefs to maintain taste, quality, and consistency.
Assist in preparing mise-en-place for the shift.
Kitchen Operations
Ensure that all dishes are prepared and delivered on time.
Maintain high standards of food presentation and plating.
Assist in managing stock levels and report shortages to supervisors.
Properly handle and store ingredients to maintain freshness and hygiene.
Hygiene & Safety
Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation guidelines.
Keep workstations clean, organized, and compliant with HACCP standards.
Ensure proper use, cleaning, and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
Teamwork & Communication
Cooperate with the culinary team to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Communicate any issues (equipment, ingredients, timing) with senior chefs.
Train and guide junior Commis or trainees when required.
Requirements & Skills
Basic culinary training or relevant kitchen experience (preferably in Chinese cuisine).
Knowledge of Chinese ingredients, seasonings, and cooking techniques.
Ability to work under pressure in a busy kitchen.
Strong sense of hygiene and food safety.
Good teamwork and communication skills.
Willingness to learn and grow within the culinary team.
