Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of Chinese dishes (e.g. wok, dim sum, stir-fries, soups, rice & noodle dishes).
Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by the senior chefs.
Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen.
Ensure proper handling and storage of all food items in accordance with health and safety standards.
Support Chef de Partie and Sous Chef in daily kitchen operations and mise en place.
Work on various kitchen sections as assigned (wok station, steamer, fryer, etc.).
Monitor food stock levels and report shortages promptly.
Minimize food wastage and contribute to efficient kitchen operations.
Comply with all food safety and sanitation guidelines (HACCP standards).
Work cooperatively with team members and contribute to a positive kitchen environment.
Requirements:
Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a professional kitchen, preferably with Chinese cuisine.
Basic knowledge of Chinese cooking techniques (e.g., steaming, stir-frying, wok cooking).
Culinary diploma or relevant training is an advantage.
Willingness to learn, take direction, and grow in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
Physical stamina and the ability to stand for long hours.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in a Chinese restaurant or hotel kitchen setup.
Knowledge of kitchen equipment used in Chinese cooking (e.g., steamers, woks, cleavers).
Understanding of common Chinese ingredients, spices, and sauces.
