Role Summary

A

Steward

ensures the cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen areas, utensils, tableware, and equipment. This role supports kitchen and restaurant operations by maintaining hygiene, organizing supplies, and assisting with basic cleaning and waste management.

Key ResponsibilitiesCleaning & Sanitation

Wash and sanitize dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment. Clean kitchen floors, walls, work surfaces, fridges, and storage areas. Maintain cleanliness of dishwashing machines and report any issues. Follow proper cleaning procedures and hygiene standards.

Support to Kitchen & Restaurant

Assist chefs and kitchen staff by ensuring tools and equipment are cleaned and ready for use. Help restock and organize kitchen items (plates, cutlery, equipment). Transport clean items to designated storage areas. Support buffet setup, breakdown, and cleaning when required.

Waste Management

Properly dispose of garbage and follow recycling procedures. Ensure garbage areas are clean, organized, and pest-free. Monitor waste levels and notify supervisor when removal is needed.

Equipment Handling

Operate dishwashing machines safely and efficiently. Handle chemicals and cleaning supplies according to safety guidelines. Ensure equipment is stored properly and safely after cleaning.

Health & Safety

Comply with food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations. Wear proper PPE (gloves, aprons, footwear) while working. Report broken equipment or safety hazards to supervisors. Follow HACCP guidelines and company safety policies.

Teamwork & Coordination

Work closely with kitchen and service teams to support smooth operations. Assist colleagues during peak hours. Attend training sessions and briefings as required.

Skills & Requirements

No formal education required; previous stewarding experience is a plus. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. Basic understanding of hygiene and safety standards. Physically fit and able to stand for long hours and lift moderate weights. Positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn. Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
