Job Description

To lead the development and management of a comprehensive, competitive, and customer-focused portfolio of life insurance products that drive business growth and market differentiation.This role is responsible for the end-to-end product lifecycle-from market research, conceptualization and design to regulatory filing with IRDAI, go-to-market planning, and ongoing product performance monitoring.
o Develop short- and long-term product strategies aligned with the company's growth objectives, consumer behaviour, regulatory environment, and market dynamics.
o Identify and analyse emerging customer needs through segmentation, behavioural insights, and evolving life-stage requirements.
o Track and evaluate competitor products and innovations to ensure timely response and differentiated positioning.
o Create compelling, value-driven propositions by identifying partner synergies and risk-sharing models that enhance customer appeal.
o Drive product visioning and roadmap planning in collaboration with Distribution, Digital, Marketing, and Finance teams.
o Tailor product design to suit each distribution channel's strengths, customer base, and sales strategy (banca, agency, direct, digital).
o Integrate inputs from reinsurance partners for co-creation, pricing optimization, and risk mitigation strategies.
o Leverage global innovation insights and best practices to introduce breakthrough product concepts in the Indian market.o Guide the team for ideation, research, design, pricing, underwriting, filing, and launch of life insurance products.
o Institutionalize structured market and customer research including surveys, interviews, focus groups, and ethnographic studies.
o Coordinate with internal stakeholders (actuarial, legal, operations, compliance, claims) to ensure holistic product readiness.
o Prepare regulatory documentation and oversee timely and accurate IRDAI filings and approvals.
o Ensure system configuration readiness across core platforms (policy admin, illustration tools, CRM) for a seamless launch.
o Collaborate with Marketing and Distribution to build impactful Go-to-Market plans, training content, and sales enablement tools.
o Implement robust pre- and post-launch testing, feedback loops, and process audits for continuous improvement.
o Track early performance indicators such as channel adoption, conversion, persistency, and customer feedback, and revise where needed.o Establish a strong product governance model covering approvals, documentation, change controls, and version management.
o Cultivate a product-thinking culture focused on agility, customer-first principles, and digital readiness.
o Define KPIs and success metrics for the product team aligned with business goals and performance tracking.
o Build capability within the team by driving knowledge-sharing, mentoring, and exposure to market trends and global practices.
o Encourage experimentation and fail-fast approaches for rapid innovation cycles, especially in digital product contexts.
o Invest in upskilling the team in analytics, UX, regulatory knowledge, and cross-functional project execution.
