About the Organization :

Adhata Trust focuses on the psychological and social welfare of senior citizens. Founded in 2012 by Arun Nanda (former Executive Director at Mahindra & Mahindra, and Chairman of Club Mahindra Holidays), the Trust addresses the post-retirement dilemma for his peers. It helps senior citizens do things they could not do while actively engaged in employment. The Trust has set up twelve community centers across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Thane. The primary objective is working towards the well-being of the elderly, and promoting the concept of Positive Ageing.

The Trust has built a residential facility for underprivileged seniors in Panvel and also plans to build a geriatric wing at a charitable hospital near Mumbai primarily to deal with age-related diseases.

About the Program :

Adhata Trust is incubating a new not-for-profit program vertical focusing on accelerating the growth of small and medium social enterprises using the knowledge and experience of senior superannuated professionals as Business Guides (BGs) and Mentors. This new program seeks to:

- Build and manage partnerships with NGOs and other organizations that are working with small and medium enterprises;

- Select enterprises for support based on business viability, scalability, and ability/willingness to leverage the Business Guides and Mentors model

- Create a resource base of Business Guides and Mentors who have the professional capacity, intent, and time to contribute

- Craft matches between the BGs\' and mentors\' capabilities and the needs of the entrepreneurs, and closely manage the engagement between the two to ensure meaningful value addition; and course correct as necessary

- Discover the business and financial model for the Business Guides offering i.e., transition from a grant-funded to a fee-based model

About the Position : The Trust is looking to hire a leader to take on the role of Chief Operations Officer to build out this new program. Core responsibilities of this role would involve:

1. Project Planning

- Identify and build a bank of mentors

- Identify and partner with organizations that work with small and medium social enterprises

2. Project Management

- Develop and execute program plans

- Proactively monitor program progress, resolve issues, and initiate appropriate corrective action for greater efficiency and effectiveness

- Manage the program\'s budget and ensure program milestones are linked to the program budget.

- Keep the Managing Trustee updated on activities through regular interactions

3. Stakeholder Management

- Identify opportunities for collaborations/partnerships with other organizations, corporate and government agencies

- Contribute to overall organization needs in strategy, donor development, monitoring & evaluation, etc.

- Manage mentors, entrepreneurs, Advisory Board and other key relationships for the organisation

4. Team Leadership

- Recruit and build a team

- Provide strategic and operating guidance to further program objectives

Experience : The incumbent should be a person with entrepreneurial and leadership skills and must possess a passion for working in the not-for-profit sector. The ideal individual is likely to have at least 15 years of overall work experience and preferably hold a post-graduate degree in business management or related field, from a reputed institution.

Competencies :

- Leadership: The individual must be an experienced leader with significant relevant work experience in senior management roles. S/he must have a successful track record of developing and executing the organization\'s strategies

- Management: The desired candidate must be a self-starter, and entrepreneurial; someone who can drive the creation, development, and management of this new program

- Communication: S/he must have strong written and verbal communication skills; must be able to generate rapport, build trust with mentors and entrepreneurs, and encourage collaboration towards a common goal

- Relationship Builder: The individual must have the demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships/ engagements with various stakeholders, including the Founder, corporates, academic institutions, incubators, partners, and potential donors

- Personal characteristics: The individual must be a natural people person, an engaging leader who operates in a hands-on manner, a creative and capable administrator, and capable of building the initiative.
