Job Description

A school caretaker is responsible for maintaining the school's cleanliness, security, and overall upkeep. This includes a wide range of duties such as opening and closing buildings, performing minor repairs, managing cleaning and groundskeeping, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. They also assist with setting up for events and responding to emergencies.
Key responsibilities
Security:
Opening and closing the school, monitoring premises, responding to alarms, and acting as a keyholder.
Maintenance and repairs:
Performing minor repairs like fixing leaky faucets, replacing light bulbs, and painting. They also report and coordinate major repairs with contractors.
Cleaning:
Performing janitorial duties, including cleaning classrooms, restrooms, and the dining hall, and ensuring a clean and safe environment.
Groundskeeping:
Maintaining outdoor areas, playgrounds, and gardens.
Safety and compliance:
Monitoring the premises for hazards, implementing health and safety procedures, and ensuring equipment is maintained.
Logistics:
Moving furniture for events, receiving and delivering supplies, and preparing facilities for use.
Support:
Assisting staff with simple tasks as needed and acting as a point of contact for certain emergencies and external organizations.
