Job Summary

The Restaurant Captain plays a pivotal role in ensuring exceptional guest experiences by overseeing dining room operations, leading the service team, and maintaining high standards of food and beverage service. This position requires a blend of leadership, communication, and operational skills to deliver seamless service.

Key Responsibilities Guest Service Excellence

Greet and welcome guests promptly in a warm and friendly manner. Assist guests with table reservations and seating arrangements. Ensure guests are serviced within specified time frames. Address and resolve guest concerns or complaints promptly and professionally. Thank guests and convey anticipation for their next visit.
Team Leadership & Training

Supervise, train, and motivate the service staff, including servers, bussers, and host/hostess. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment. Conduct briefings and ensure staff are informed about daily specials, menu changes, and operational updates.
Operational Management

Oversee daily dining room operations, including table assignments and coordination with kitchen staff. Ensure cleanliness and organization of the dining area. Monitor and enforce adherence to health and safety regulations. Manage inventory levels of service-related items (cutlery, glassware, etc.).
Communication & Coordination

Liaise between the kitchen and service teams to ensure smooth order flow. Communicate special requests, dietary preferences, or complaints to the kitchen team. Prepare and submit reports on dining room activities, guest feedback, and staff performance to the management team.
Sales & Upselling

Promote and upsell menu items, beverages, and special promotions to enhance guest experience and increase revenue. Possess thorough knowledge of the menu, including daily specials, and be able to make recommendations and answer guests' questions regarding food and beverages.
Prerequisites

Education:

Diploma or degree in Hotel Management or related field.

Experience:

2-3 years of work experience in Food & Beverage gained from a 5-star international property, along with 1-year experience in a Captain position or a similar role.

Skills:

Good command of both spoken and written English. Excellent guest service skills. Knowledge of food and beverage service. Familiarity with Point-of-Sale (POS) systems, MS Office, and Property Management Systems.

Work Environment:

The role involves standing for extended periods and may require lifting and carrying items.
