Business Development Manager – Digital

Location

Digital Business collaborates closely with insurance start-ups and digital verticals, working with them to develop scalable and sustainable insurance business. The purpose of this role is to coordinate all aspects of partner engagement, including the development of partner identification and selection strategy. The ability to quickly understand a new business proposition and to position it within the Digital business model is key. They will work in a collaborative team environment. Engagement with the partner and alignment with the cross functional teams of Underwriters, Analytics, Legal and Client Management is a key element of the role. Your job
  • Develop & implement the strategy for partner engagement, including how we select our partners, develop alignment of interest, and ensure we have a coherent, long-term relationship with start-ups and digital verticals.
  • Create new business presentations and proposals, from understanding the clients’ objective and needs, with an objective to launch existing and new digital products with the partners. Work closely with key stakeholders internally and externally to identify trends and new offerings within the Insurtech eco-system.
  • Identify the upcoming insurance and tech trends and bring on-board the most promising business propositions.
  • Develop and drive through an annual business plan that will achieve our new business revenue targets – both existing and new clients.
  • Review performance to the plan and update activities as necessary to achieve the new business targets.
  • Make first contact with potential partners and promote the MR’s Digital proposition to them.
  • Reach out to Investor community in India including Venture Capitals, Private Equity and fund houses to establish a joint partnership approach
  • Assume full responsibility over the partner relationship throughout the onboarding phase of the partner’s business and remain the primary point of contact concerning further business development activities with the partner.
  • Working closely with the Senior Directors of Business Development and Product Management, conduct critical negotiations with partners (i.e., Memos of Understanding, agreement on economic structure/business terms).
  • With the Digital Business leadership team bring potential partnerships to fruition and support the partnership as it develops.
  • Promoting our business model in the market through various measures including event management and other networking events.
  • Work closely with the Munich Re CVC team to align investment opportunities.
  • Lead PR activities and branding discussions of Digital Business with internal and external partners.
Your profile
  • Candidate should have 4 to 7 years of relevant experience in partner engagement, strategic alliances or business enablement for a digital or reputable start-up company.
  • Relevant knowledge of the Insurtech scene and innovation within the insurance or financial services industry would be an added advantage.
  • Proven ability to communicate actively, effectively and succinctly with strong facilitation, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Able to engage with and impress C-Level “disruptive thinkers” through empathy, ideas and action.
  • Able to work in a project-based environment and deliver under very tight time pressure.
  • Collaborative with a strong team ethic.
  • A solution-based approach with the ability for complex problem solving.
  • Willing to travel as needed to engage with partners.
  • Organized, methodical and analytical.
  • Able to see the bigger picture, yet understand complex details as required.
Qualifications
  • MBA in marketing from a premier institute is required.
  • Professional qualifications also an advantage.
