  • Risk and Compliance Assurance Services (RCAS) is a new team that is at the forefront of delivering innovative Assurance solutions for and on behalf of HSBC\xe2\x80\x99s 2nd Line of Defence Assurance teams and Risk Stewards. Our industry leading senior management team supported by our specialist Centres of Excellence (CoE) will deliver an Assurance proposition that unlocks value for the Group, strengthens our control environment and delivers sustainable success. This is a role within the Professional Practices team and is accountable to the Senior Manager Management Office, Professional Practices.
  • The Management Office role provides dedicated, forward thinking, operational management capability for the Risk and Compliance Assurance Services (RCAS) Function, from within the Professional Practices team. In addition the role supports providing strong financial management oversight and monitoring related to the delivery of assurance for RCAS and ensures adherence to bank policies.
The activities include but not limited to:
  • Delivery of management office activities, including interacting with the Global Risk & Compliance CAO Team
  • Undertaking of key Management Office activities for the Global Risk & Compliance Assurance Services team including:
  • Financial Management \xe2\x80\x93 ensuring all financial targets are understood and actions can be taken as necessary and actuals vs AOP managed monthly including FTE
  • Resource Management \xe2\x80\x93 ensuring all recruitment activity across RCAS teams are tracked, monitored and understood by RCAS teams and senior leaders.
  • Governance \xe2\x80\x93 demonstrating good governance and control across the Function
  • Organisational Design \xe2\x80\x93 managing, developing and controlling the organisational design and implementation
  • Communications \xe2\x80\x93 ensuring effective management office communications are supported
  • Continuous Improvement \xe2\x80\x93 driving positive change in processes, procedures, services etc. to deliver on financial, people or efficiency goals
  • Key stakeholders include:
  • Heads of Risk and Compliance Assurance Services, Professional Practices and Controls Assurance
  • Global RCAS Teams and Leadership
  • Risk & Compliance CAO of COO
  • The role holder will be a dynamic individual that easily adapts, and champions change amongst peers and stakeholders whilst managing multiple deliverables across the different services offered by professional practices, and meeting timelines set. They will have the opportunity to establish and maintain a wide network of global colleagues and stakeholders across all risk disciplines and various management levels. Although the role holder will not have direct line management responsibility they will be expected to influence and drive forward the behaviours and practices of a large global group of stakeholders using their breadth of communication skills.
Governance and Committee Memberships (membership of ExCos, Risk Management Meeting)
  • No standing membership but on occasion may deputise for the Senior Manager Management Office.

Impact on the Business
  • Co-ordinate and deliver RCAS requirements across team to comply with all global processes and deadlines.
  • Facilitate and adopt best practice through collaborating with our key business partners (e.g. Finance, HR, Quality, Communications)
  • Monitor cost of Assurance delivery services across all areas in RCAS and ensure tight financial oversight to achieve the overall financial plan.
  • Deliver set performance measurements against operational benchmarking including close monitoring of delivery service SLAs and close liaison with delivery service providers.
  • Implement policies and procedures to ensure an effective and efficient approach to business and financial management across area of responsibility.

  • Deliver standardized approach to key business support activities
  • Establish best practices & implement
  • Meet deadlines for all key business processes (Annual Operating Plan, Calibration etc.)
  • Manage to FTE and income targets
  • Manage operational risk ensuring all correct procedures and controls are in place
  • Support and maintain open audit points and operational risk losses to a minimum.

  • Build strong relationships, adopting a joined up approach, to execute processes at pace and with minimum conflict
  • Ensuring that internal and external regulatory requirements are met

  • The Business Manager is responsible for supporting defining and implementing a consistent and effective approach to financial and control management for all functional areas in scope. The scope of responsibilities of this role includes all aspects of business and risk management \xe2\x80\x93 Financial, Governance & MI, People, Internal Controls, communications, Business Administration and Strategy as required.
  • Advanced PowerPoint, Excel, or other business management platform knowledge advantageous
