Job Description



Reporting to : Program Lead (Program Manager Coach or Senior Program Manager) The Program Associate will play a dual role of managing school and community partnerships as well as supporting the Program Leads in developing Fellows / managing the Fellowship in the region. Skills such as operational excellence, problem-solving, and investing in others through relationship building will be crucial to success. They will also be responsible for setting a strong culture of problem-solving and collaboration amongst all our grassroots level stakeholders while working closely with the Program team and the city team to ensure win-win partnerships in the region. Responsibilities This is a dynamic role that gives you the opportunity to work with key stakeholders at different levels to create an ecosystem of support for our children, Fellows and Staff. You will play a major role in supporting an environment that helps our model thrive in the short and long term. Stakeholder Management [50%]

  • Fellowship operations [25%]
    • Support Program Leads in Fellow placements by taking into account various requirements at the local, city and organizational level
    • Collaborate with Program Managers to support Fellows in schools and work closely with the Fellows to implement new / efficient structures in partner schools
    • Collaborate with Fellows to organize parent-teacher meetings; identify parent champions and support them in engaging the parent community on critical ed-related issues
  • School leadership [25%]
    • Engage the School Leaders towards deepening their understanding about our movement and creating champions of our work in the region
    • Visit partner schools and classrooms; build relationships and invest our school stakeholders in the vision and mission of TFI
    • Co-design and co-lead annual HM conferences and HM surveys; analyse feedback and work with School Leadership to implement changes
    • Ensure smooth MoU renewals with schools and explore expansion into other government / low-income private schools in the city
    • Problem solve school leadership challenges with Program Managers, Program Leads, and Fellows; drive towards a solution amicable to all parties
Collaborations [20%]
  • Ed-sector collaborations [10%]
    • Build relationships with local NGOs and other ed-sector leaders working at the grassroots level to create enabling conditions for educational and social equity
    • Lead execution of projects/pilots for collective action with local partners in the ed-sector
  • Community initiatives [10%]
    • Partner with Program Managers and Program Leads on community visits and create new community engagement structures
    • Support Fellows in implementing high-impact BTCPs in the community
School transformation [20%]
  • Work with the Program Lead to create a framework to identify a subset of effective schools; work with leadership to transform schools through a higher degree of operational efficiency and student outcomes
As an Associate at Teach For India [10%]
  • Contributing to the team goals and priorities beyond individual goals and priorities
  • Serving as an ambassador of the Teach For India brand and an advocate for our work and for educational equity in our country through both internal and external communication after committing time in our classrooms to understand our work more deeply
  • Supporting with key organizational areas such as Recruitment, Selection, Fundraising, Volunteering, Movement Building
Additional Responsibilities
  • Support Program team in planning and organizing city events like summits, mid-year retreats and more, to nurture a sense of community in our Fellows and stakeholders
  • Support in selection of beneficiaries and matriculation, based on interest and skills, to infuse the most promising talent into the Fellowship
  • Support the City Child Protection Committee, to focus on child safety and wellbeing for all students in the city

Minimum Qualifications, Experiences and Expectations


  • Graduate / Post-Graduate Bachelor's Degree
  • Ex-TFI Fellow or 2+ years of experience working directly with schools/communities
  • Fluency in local language
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to visit schools and communities on a daily basis
  • Ability to negotiate with a diverse set of stakeholders to drive desired outcomes
  • Ability to quickly build relationships and influence others without authority
  • Strong problem solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills to solve complex 'people problems'
  • Basic knowledge of NGO landscape in the region

Preferred Qualifications, Experiences and Expectations


  • Experience working in education, specifically in the social sector
  • Experience managing partnerships with a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Experience implementing strategies for schools and/or communities
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and plan a path forward
  • Ability to work with data to drive decisions
  • Ability to think critically towards solving complex 'people' problems
