MSIM Operations
This Operations group supports the equity, fixed income, liquidity, and alternative businesses for Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM), providing middle-office services including portfolio manager support, client services, portfolio transitions, market registration, product data and performance and attribution analysis. MSIM Operations also provides mutual fund support, derivative processing, and counterparty and credit event management.

Background on the Role

The MSIM Performance Operations (Perf Ops) team is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our India team as a Production Manager overseeing the performance measurement function. This individual will ensure that the vendor meets all internal and external deliverables and will track the agent-s performance against the established Service Level Agreement. They will serve as the point of escalation for all performance production matters/inquires, risk issues and discussions regarding new or enhanced reporting requirements and deliverables. In this position, the individual will be part of a global team responsible for middle-office performance functions including but not limited to reporting, composite maintenance, and client take-on/termination tasks. This position will partner with MSIM Portfolio Services teams to understand products and strategies and will in turn educate colleagues on performance measurement calculations and interpretations. Further, the position involves working very closely with the Fund Administration team in Europe and US in managing and meeting requirements for Regulatory and Board reporting. They must have strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills and be able to build and maintain relationships at all levels of the firm-s, clients-, and outsourcing agent-s organization. The group has a strong, team-based orientation, yet relies upon its members to take responsibility and ownership of their coverage responsibilities and client base. Thorough professionalism in all technical and non-technical aspects of the position is required.

Responsibility

  • Provide vendor relationship oversight regarding input data required for performance measurement and composite maintenance
  • Understand current state of respective Organizations as well as target operating model of the combined entity
  • Own core performance returns calculations using vendor-based system
  • Implement process and control frameworks, as designed for the function
  • Significant interaction with other investment teams and professionals on matters pertaining to performance returns and data availability
  • Coordinate deliverables with internal teams, workstreams, stakeholders and external vendors
  • Work with other colleagues within a global organization to streamline and increase efficiency and accuracy of the performance measurement processes.
  • Close interaction and coordination with Technology team on produ


QUALIFICATIONS
Skills Required
  • Bachelor-s Degree in accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.
  • 4-5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Asset management performance calculation and reporting experience including knowledge of alternative return calculations.
  • Exposure and experience of working/managing performance calculations on leading vendor-based systems will be essential
  • Working knowledge of the GIPS Standards and Policies & Procedures
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Highly proactive and energetic focus toward client service and relationship management.
  • Strong individual initiative with the ability to take a proactive approach to assigned projects and new team initiatives.
  • Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to analyze and understand data, ability to learn quickly and clarify poorly defined problems.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to coordinate, prioritize, and ability to multitask
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
