Role Responsibilities

Strategy

Processes
  • Responsible for the monthly close process, completion of books of accounts, accountings controls and accounting operations processes, ensuring compliance of regulations, policies, and requirements of the \xe2\x80\x9cin scope\xe2\x80\x9d countries/entities.
  • Understanding the process and recording of journals to reflect the monthly activity and focus on continuous improvement in productivity from time to time.
  • Continually process all assigned activities and identify opportunities for quality & process design improvement.
  • Responsible for monthly close process, management of books of accounts, accountings controls and accounting operations processes ensuring compliance of regulations, policies and requirements of the \xe2\x80\x9cin scope\xe2\x80\x9d countries/entities.
  • Manage the process for review and recording of journal entries required to reflect the monthly activity and continuous improvement in productivity to the standards prescribed from time to time.
  • Continually reviewing all assigned processes in order to identify opportunities for quality & process design improvement
  • Lead the initiative for reduction in manual journals across the bank by doing a deep dive into the various thematic issues and driving the improvement through various measures.
  • Manage and update on Period Close Accounting and Control activities across SCB.
  • Ensure that the standards of customer service provided by the function consistently meet or exceed the requirements set under the Service Level Agreements agreed with the customers.
  • Liaise with stakeholders for periodic review and re-negotiation of Service Level Agreements and any other related performance and quality measures.
  • Ensure effective systems and procedures for the timely collection of data from all accounting sites and their collation and submission to various recipients.
  • Ensure compliance of regulations, policies & requirements of the \xe2\x80\x98in scope\xe2\x80\x99 countries and reports and raise relevant risks by effective communication.
  • Effectively contribute to the change being led by the superiors and management arising out of transition of new processes or arresting the escalations.
  • Update DOI\xe2\x80\x99s (Departmental Operating Instructions) and cross train other team members to ensure proper backup in place.
  • Ensuring that continuous efficiency improvement in R2R activities and an established process exists to constantly identify and implement improvement opportunities.
  • Handle all internal and external audits (EY / GIA) & submission of timely /accurate reports to GFS Operation
  • The candidate should be flexible for Africa /Middle East time zone (Friday off with Sunday working) and willing to extend as necessary during the month close cycle
Risk Management
  • Understand the Group Accounting Policy and the FCSR Standard and Policy in a way that he/she is able to identify any control lapses that has an element of risk and highlighting/escalating as appropriate
Skills
  • Strong Analytical and Strategic mindset, coupled with a thorough understanding of Accounting, Financial Control, Interco in Banking Industry with experience in transformation of book close processes.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, multitask, lead through ambiguities, influence where he/she does not have direct authority & build on unstructured formative situations.
  • Ability to design and build structured processes with consensus of key leaders in the wider organisation on digital venture.
  • Significant experience of working with senior management team and of interfacing with and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Able to quickly establish credibility in client journey & adopt new ways of working, persuasive professional presence and have an excellent communication, analytical and decision-making skills
