About the Assessments Team

Founded in 2001, Educational Initiatives Private Limited (EI), is South Asia\xe2\x80\x99s leading assessment research and educational technology organization, motivated by the vision of creating \xe2\x80\x9ca world where children everywhere are learning with understanding\xe2\x80\x9d. Our goal is to reach a multitude of children across different strata of society, irrespective of the kind of education they are receiving today or the curriculum they are following. With our focus on educational research, assessments, pedagogy-based personalized adaptive learning (PAL), and a Science of Learning (SoL) repository of data and techniques to help children learn better, we continue to strive to leverage the twin levers of cutting-edge educational research and a technology-based solutions approach to revolutionize how children in the K-12 education space learn.

The Assessments team is in charge of creating and delivering high-quality assessments, capacity building and technical enhancement programs as part of Ei Shiksha, a vertical of Ei that exclusively works with low-income or government schools. It takes Eis expertise in assessments, educational research, and technology-based personalized adaptive learning and builds solutions/programmes/products contextualised for the B-o-P settings. This is done in collaboration with state governments, international grantmakers, corporate foundations, and NGOs.

Over the past two decades, EI has undertaken over 80+ projects with 50+ government and civil society partners (16+ languages, 40+ detailed studies published) across geographies, and socio-linguistic backgrounds in India and abroad, for more than 10 million students across different grades. EI has offices in Bangalore and Ahmedabad in India, with 350+ staff members specializing in different aspects of assessments, technology, training and project management. The top executives at EI serve/have served as advisors on boards of several educational committees for the State and Central Government of India.

We have worked on several large-scale systems change projects in India with Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Gujarat Secondary Education Board (GSEB), SCERT Haryana, Bihar Education Project Council, SSA Tamil Nadu, Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM), Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh government agencies and the countries of Maldives and Bhutan. Our work has been funded by UNICEF, the World Bank, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Department for International Development (DfID) - UK, The Partnership to Strengthen Innovation and Practice in Secondary Education (PSIPSE), MacArthur Foundation, Michael & Susan Dell Foundation (MSDF), Hewlett Foundation, McKinsey, Harvard University and the University of Newcastle.

The People

The key driver of EI\xe2\x80\x99s success is the quality of our staff. Our team includes over 300 professionals combining a unique depth of pedagogical and assessment expertise with experience working with schools, government systems and top-tier organizations in education, and leading academic institutions. The team includes HBS, IIM and IIT alumni, university rank-holders at PhD and Masters level in Science, Social Sciences and Humanities, along with teachers with several years of school experience, curriculum and textbook developers and teacher trainers. The organization has specialized internal teams working on test development, data science, educational research, psychometrics, personalized learning, and IT development.

Roles and Responsibilities

Manage Large Scale Assessment Projects
  • Plan, ideate, and execute assessment strategies to manage projects end to end.
  • Developing a detailed plan along with the internal team; monitoring and systematically tracking using appropriate tools; reporting progress as well as risks regularly.
  • Ensure timeline management, and team management as per the project needs.
  • Ensuring goals are met in all relevant areas including programme implementation and team member performance.
  • Coordinate and liaison with internal as well as external teams to achieve project goals.
  • Coordinate and manage the creation of high-quality assessment and evaluation tools, reports and other deliverables for project needs.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate, educate and coordinate the project needs end to end.
  • Build and manage client relationships to support the complete implementation of the project.
  • Organise various capacity-building workshops, meetings, and all other activities to be undertaken as per project requirements.
  • Work with the data analysis team to complete the required analysis and unearth insights required for the project.
  • Understand analysis and reporting needs for the project and ensure analyses and reports are produced as per the requirement.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation for the project.
  • Travel to the field to evaluate/implement or support project needs, implementation of LSEP assessments with clients and understand clients\xe2\x80\x99 work better.
Support
  • Support/perform data analysis to measure student performance and unearth learning trends.
  • Assist in the design, implementation, administration, evaluation, and revision of assessments for projects managed by others.
  • Support in team\xe2\x80\x99s growth and learning needs.
Organizational Development * Expand the scope of projects by high-quality dissemination- working papers, publications etc.
  • Research, learn and identify strengths and areas of improvement needed at a team level to conduct diverse projects.
  • Travel for the project needs and documenting trip reports of the same appropriately t. Preparing progress reports highlighting the impact on students\xe2\x80\x99 learning levels in the state. u. Ensure timely submission of the reports after each activity of the State Assessment Cell.
Requirements

Qualifications and Experience
  • 4-7 years of experience in the education or development sector, with at least 2 years of relevant managerial experience.
Skills
  • A strong understanding of education, instruction, and assessments, with a specific focus on training and capacity building.
  • Strong understanding of India\xe2\x80\x99s education landscape.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to learn fast, and grasp Educational Initiatives\xe2\x80\x99 models and business.
  • Attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to visualize and create concise and comprehensible content for various stakeholders.
  • The ability to work collaboratively in teams and independently as a self-starter.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
  • Problem-solving attitude.
  • Meticulous documentation skills
  • Willingness to travel to various remote locations.
  • Strong oral and written knowledge of English and Hindi.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • Candidates who have previously handled large-scale education-related projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and analysing large-scale data.
  • Experience working with government and/or NGOs.
