About the Operations IT Team

Operations IT is a global IT capability supporting the Global Operations organisation. We business partner with Operations capability areas: Pharmaceutical Technology Development, Manufacturing & Global Engineering, Quality Control, Sustainability, Supply Chain, Logistics and Global External Sourcing and Procurement. We operate out of Operations hubs sites including in the UK, Sweden, US, and China; and out of our Global Technology Centres in India and Mexico. The Senior IT Project Manager leads one or a set of interrelated projects with a value of up to $10M. The role reports to a Capability Lead and maintains project accountability, from initiation to close, to deliver effective solutions that meet approved customer and business needs. The role is accountable for developing and delivering solutions to approved budget and schedule commitments whilst meeting required quality and compliance standards. Additional focus areas include collaborator management, risk management, internal and external supplier management and delivery of business benefit. This role will also be responsible for providing coaching and guidance to other project managers on the team in a matrix capacity. The coaching may range from process compliance to vendor management situations. Another key responsibility will be supporting the capability as a portfolio lead including, but not limited to, ensuring adherence to the management of the data and processes associated with project / portfolio management in Service Now for the entire portfolio (projects and new demand) within the capability.

Accountabilities

  • Preparing and completing project plan, including activities, resources, costs, roles, responsibilities and quality as defined in the IT Project Management Methodology (ADF).
  • Handling project budgets, forecasts, tasks, schedules, risks, change management, and status to support effective decisions and project reporting.
  • Handling relationships with business partners to ensure the effective capturing of business requirements and commitment to project objectives.
  • Responsible for steering / collaborator meetings, communication of status, issues, risks
  • Driving effective risks & issues management, ensuring processes are in place and used in an efficient way.
  • Building a cohesive project team and provide the leadership necessary to maximise the team\xe2\x80\x99s success.
  • Handling changes to scope, ensuring that all impacts and changes are approved and appropriately communicated to collaborators and review boards.
  • Assuring / developing service transition plans to ensure project delivered solutions are sustainable within a business-as-usual operations environment, including controlled hand-over into operational support.
  • Ensuring the project team adheres to all standards including ADF, quality, and compliance, as well as processes, defined technical capabilities.
  • Ensuring expected benefits realisation is consistent with project deliverables and clearly understood.
  • Supporting scrum / agile projects as a scrum master when methodology is employed.
  • Proving coaching / mentorship to other project managers on the team, including informing team of any changes / updates in methodology.
  • Accountable for project / portfolio data adherence and quality for any projects or demands for the Deliver Capability.
  • Work with Capability Lead to support quarterly resource allocation process across entire team to ensure appropriate charge back and annual budgeting cycle for new projects.

Required Skills & Capabilities

  • Strong Project and Progamme Management Skills
  • A capable knowledge of Financial Management and Benefits Delivery practices.
  • Broad understanding of IT systems and technology implemented within a business context.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills
  • Strong knowledge and experience with internal and external suppliers and solutions
  • Excellent business acumen with sensitivity to environment
  • Detail oriented and strategically minded.
  • Comfort with financial management and PPM tools

Required Qualifications

  • Technical or Business Degree or proven equivalent experience.
  • +10 yrs experience as a Project Manager
  • Previous experience controlling IT project budgets up to $10M.
  • Experience managing and leading global IT project teams
  • Experience working in a global organisation where stakeholders and project team members are geographically dispersed.
  • Willingness to work 2nd Shift (UK Hrs at least 1 day a week)

Desirable

  • Project / Programme Management certifications
  • Experience with Supply Chain projects \xe2\x80\x93 optimal candidates have knowledge of Deliver Domain (Logistics, Warehousing, External Logistics Providers)
  • Experience with SAP projects
