We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Vice President, HBEU Operational Management.

Principal Responsibilities:

Impact on the Business/Function

  • Establish and maintain regular engagement with onshore Heads of Operational Management to ensure deliverables are adequately supporting all required aspects of governance
  • Help ensure that the highest priority risk topics have the strongest controls and diligence by providing adequate time and focus during governance meetings by closely working with onshore teams
  • Ensure all deliverables are timely and of adequate quality.
  • Proactively identify process improvements, automation and streamlining opportunities and ongoing improvements on end-to-end process.
  • Be a trusted advisor and subject matter expert for the market and region on Governance and oversight matters

  • Maturity and quality of Governance and oversight
Customers / Stakeholders
  • Closely work with all market and regional governance managers and business partners including Finance and HR
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Strong and effective relationships maintained with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Be a Governance SME, advising on best practice across the region
  • Follow-up with onshore CAO and OM heads as required

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Support identification of emerging risk themes

  • Operational Effectiveness & Control:
  • Support the leadership team over all governance matters

  • Governance withstands auditing and regulatory scrutiny
Management of Risk
  • To abide by the Group compliance policy by containing compliance risk in conjunction with the relevant Compliance department. The term \xe2\x80\x98compliance\xe2\x80\x99 embraces all relevant laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply.
  • To continually reassess the operational risks inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures, management restructures, and the impact of new technology in conjunction with the donor Group companies.
  • To ensure risks are administered effectively in line with the Group\xe2\x80\x99s Operational Management Risk Frameworks.
Requirements

Experience
  • Experience of working in a COO Office or Business Management function and have worked across multiple jurisdictions with a range of stakeholders, including senior management at HSBC.
  • Project, operational and people management experience.
  • Experience of financial and budget management is desirable
  • Continuous improvement and change management experience
Expertise

Strong understanding of:
  • HSBC organization, and its strategy, structures and processes.
  • Design and coordination of processes
  • Regional and local Market stakeholder management.
Skills
  • Understanding of HSBC Group structures, values, behaviors, processes and objectives;
  • Experience in risk or control management is desirable
  • Expert in written communication, report and minutes writing
  • Stakeholder management and Influencing skills
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize including when under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders
  • Ability to balance multiple competing demands to find the best solutions
  • Collaborative skill is required to follow up actions from formal governance meetings
  • Attention to detail, with proven problem-solving ability in a deadline-driven environment.
Candidate with less relevant experience or skills may be offered a lower Global Career Band than stated above.
