Job Description


Job Responsibilities As the Assistant Materials Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing and coordinating the procurement and inventory management activities to support the smooth operations of our esteemed hotel. Responsibilities: Assist the Materials Manager in overseeing the procurement process, including vendor selection, negotiation, and contract management, to ensure the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services. Support the Materials Manager in maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of inventory levels, including stock items, supplies, and equipment, to facilitate efficient stock replenishment and minimize stockouts. Collaborate with various departments, such as Food and Beverage, Housekeeping, and Engineering, to understand their material requirements and ensure timely delivery of goods to support their operational needs. Assist in managing relationships with suppliers, ensuring compliance with quality standards, delivery schedules, and contractual agreements. Assist in implementing inventory control measures, including regular stock counts, monitoring stock movement, and implementing appropriate systems to prevent theft, spoilage, or loss of materials. Support the implementation and maintenance of computerized materials management systems to track inventory levels, monitor stock movement, and generate accurate reports. Assist in analyzing purchasing trends, evaluating supplier performance, and identifying opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and supplier consolidation. Support the Materials Manager in implementing and maintaining sustainable and environmentally responsible practices in materials management, including waste reduction and recycling initiatives. Assist in managing and resolving issues related to damaged or incorrect deliveries, working closely with suppliers and internal departments to ensure timely resolution. Job Requirements Proven experience in materials management, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably in the hospitality industry or a similar fast-paced environment. Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders. Solid knowledge of procurement practices, inventory management principles, and industry best practices. Familiarity with computerized materials management systems and proficiency in using MS Office applications. Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping. Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required in the hospitality industry. Proficiency in English (both written and spoken), with additional language skills considered a plus. Familiarity with Taj Group standards and procedures. Bachelor-s degree in Supply Chain Management, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field is advantageous.
