The Role


This position is responsible for heading the Proposal, Project, Mechanical design teams in multi-branded Systems and Solutions India facility and reporting to Systems and Solutions Business Manager - South Asia and Middle East under Atlas Copco Vacuum Technique Busines Area.

The successfull candidate will have to work closely with the Systems Business Manager to achieve the desired company goals and targets.

The mission is to drive profitable and sustainable growth of Systems and Solutions by taking complete ownership and responsibility from enquiry through order placement. To manage team and play an active role in converting orders in the enquiry and bidding phase by acting as local lead for complex systems as well as coordinating between customer, CC and CEP in proposal preparation and development. Post order, to lead the project management team for order execution ensuring customer order delivery to agreed quality, timescale, budget, and profitability.


  • Candidate will be responsible for handling a team of proposal , project and design engineers for execution of Proposal and project pertaining to VTBA products - Complex Liquid Ring Pumps and Compressor packages, steam ejector packages, steam ejector+LRP package , Dry vacuum systems
  • Candidate shall also be required to work as an individual contributor for complex proposal and projects.
  • Shall be able to work on complex requirement projects for clients such as IOCL, HPCL, BPCL, EIL, Reliance, etc.
  • Plan, recruit and Manage a team of Proposal, Projects and Design Engineers and lead to successful achievement of business goals and targets
  • Work closely with stakeholders- Systems Business Manager/ Customer Centers and End Users to achieve the desired business goals and undertake performance/efficiency improvement projects
  • Studying the nature of projects and products and developing processes and procedures for effective functioning in line with the global procedures
  • Develop and plan resources in line with the requirements and onboard the resource & train them accordingly.
  • Help in development of new suppliers with the business goals of cost reduction and quality improvements paving the way for improvement profit margins to global defined value.
  • Develop India Systems costing for Power, Oil and Gas and CPI segment with aggressive pricing and maintaining the divisional specified profit margins.
  • To target the gowth in LRP Business
  • To add resources to suit the business growth and define their roles and responsibilities.
  • To develop, plan and define the goals for gaining market share in India for Industrial vacuum business in Tire Industry and allied segment
  • To ensure the processes and procedures are adhered, to enable quality products from the systems facility.
  • To perform and certify the products which are assembled in the systemization facility for Quality and safety by performing the Quality and safety reviews/audits in line with the global process.
  • Developing local suppliers/fabricators for localization of equipment such as ejectors, etc. which will help to aggressively target and gain the market share in the cash rich segments of Oil& Gas and petrochemicals/ refining industries namely in India and Middle east.
  • To keep a close watch on market and take strategic decisions under guidance of Systems Business Manager- South Asia and Middleeast
  • To collaborate with VTS BLM and Service Managers for after sales requirements and closely work for resolving issues at site.
  • Active technical engagement with customers coordinating between customer, CC and CEP
  • Be local lead for bid development following initial customer enquiry, taking an active role in specifying proposal, contract review & clarifications
  • Support specification and auditing of bids against contractual requirements to ensure projects can be cost effectively executed on time.
  • Identification of technical and commercial risks, and their mitigation plans.
  • To take ownership and responsibility from receipt of order to commissioning of Systems contracts to ensure that the projects are delivered as sound engineering solutions which are produced on time, to specification, and within budget.
  • To manage the production of all necessary technical and commercial documents throughout the duration of the project, ensuring that the output is accurate, on time and of a consistently high quality.
  • To liaise closely with customers through meetings, telephone and written communications to ensure that their requirements are fully understood and met.
  • To liaise closely with suppliers to ensure that our requirements are fully understood and met and that the equipment and services being supplied are delivered in full accordance with our requirements, within budget and on time.
  • Define and manage project plans for contract execution. Report progress both internally and to customer
  • To handle all contractual and technical issues throughout the duration of the project, liaising with all parties as necessary to produce effective and timely solutions.
  • Rigorous control (& communication) of costs and resources to deliver orders to budget or increased UGP. Tight management of scope with customer, enabling UGP increase through variation orders
  • Support CAD designers during the production of models and drawings of the required equipment.
  • Continuous improvement of process and solutions to increase orders received and profitability
  • Manage commissioning & start up phase
  • Ensure adherence to process and delivery of project related documentation in the TCF, to assure Compliance with Systems QMS, all local and national legislation, as well as all adhering to company Health & Safety and Environmental procedures
  • To gather the requirements and define the job roles for resources and plan the resource onboarding accordingly.

What we expect of you?

Educational requirements
  • University degree (Bachelor/Masters) in an related engineering/science discipline

Experience requirements
  • Result-oriented professional with proven experience in project management, engineering and technology
  • Worked with customers in the oil, gas, petrochemical, power or chemical sectors and in working with the specifications and procedures of the engineering contractors.
  • Familiarity of preparing contract documents associated with process packages supplied through engineering contractors (including: material requisitions, engineering procedures, production schedules, ITPs, Manufacturing Data Books, Inspection Reports, Progress Reports).
  • Experience of managing suppliers including undertaking final inspection of fabricated items, pressure vessels and process packages
  • Shall be self-motivated Manager capable of forecasting the business and taking corrective actions to cater to the market requirements.

Knowledge
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Knowledge of SAP and MS Project advantageous
  • Excellent command of English language, both written and spoken
  • Knowledge of vacuum technology and working with engineering contractors
