Assistant General Manager (AGM) - Legal & Acquisition - Real Estate Company

The Assistant General Manager for Legal & Acquisition in a real estate company is a key leadership role responsible for managing legal matters and overseeing property acquisition processes. This position is integral in ensuring legal compliance, mitigating risks, and facilitating successful property acquisition for the company\'s real estate portfolio. The AGM will work closely with senior management, legal teams, and other stakeholders to achieve organizational objectives. The job description includes but is not limited to the following responsibilities:

Legal Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal advice and guidance to senior management on all legal matters pertaining to real estate transactions.
  • Review and negotiate contracts, agreements, leases, and other legal documents related to property acquisitions, sales, and development.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal real estate laws, regulations, and zoning ordinances.
  • Handle legal disputes and represent the company in litigation when necessary.
  • Conduct due diligence on potential legal risks and devise strategies to mitigate them.
  • Collaborate with external legal counsel and manage their services effectively.
Acquisition Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement the company\'s property acquisition strategy in alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Identify and assess potential real estate investment opportunities, conducting market research and feasibility studies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with property owners, brokers, and developers.
  • Lead negotiations for property acquisitions, including purchase price, terms, and conditions.
  • Oversee the due diligence process, including title searches, environmental assessments, and property inspections.
  • Prepare and present acquisition proposals to senior management for approval.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to secure funding for property purchases.
Team Management and Coordination:
  • Lead and supervise a team of legal professionals, paralegals, and acquisition specialists.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and support to team members to enhance their performance and career growth.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment within the legal and acquisition department.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, such as finance, development, and marketing, to facilitate seamless property transactions.
