Working in Application Support means you\'ll use both creative and critical thinking skills to maintain application systems that are crucial to the daily operations of the firm. You\'ll work collaboratively in teams on a wide range of projects based on your primary area of focus: design or programming. While learning to fix application and data issues as they arise, you\'ll also gain exposure to software development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and improvement, in addition to production lifecycle methodologies and risk guidelines. This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including: BS/BA degree or equivalent experience Basic knowledge of application development Working knowledge in one or more general purpose programming languages, plus an interest in learning other coding languages and skills as needed Working knowledge of development toolset to design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals Responsibilities Manage day to day issues including daily health checks of applications and processes, working closely with end users, development staff and Infrastructure teams, to prioritize and resolve and/or mitigate outages. Monitor production activities/processes to ensure timely and effective reporting, tracking, follow-up and communication of problems to internal and external clients, technical resources, and executives. Ensures information controls, back-up and recovery strategies are in place across all environments. Implement continuous process improvement, including but not limited to policy, procedures, and production monitoring. Help in identifying, coordinating, and implementing initiatives/projects and activities that create efficiencies and optimize technical processing. Develop and maintain relationships with technical staff, end users and clients. Carefully evaluate alternative risks and solutions before taking action to provide timely resolution. Data analysis of issues and reporting to Production support and Development leadership. Experience 6+ years of hands-on experience in Production Support/Engineering or Application Development roles. Ability to influence and drive change. 3+ years of experience in Cloud support, Perl, Python, Ruby or similar scripting languages. 3+ years experience with distributed applications (AWS, UNIX, Linux, Java, Java servlets and JSP, Spring, Hibernate, SOAP, web services etc. Strong analytical & trouble shooting skills required. Experience in Disaster Recovery planning and test execution. Knowledge of Splunk, Datadog, and Dynatrace. Experience supporting mission-critical platforms/applications in financial services industry is desired. Experience in a client facing role (external or internal).
