How will you make an impact in this role?
The Fraud, Credit Bust Out (CBO), Banking Product & Payments Risk Organization is a global team of risk officers, data scientists, and product managers that are building innovative solutions and capabilities to manage external fraud and payment risk across AMEX's card and banking portfolios.
We are looking for an Analyst to join the Fraud - POS Control Management team, who will oversee how the Global point-of-sale fraud team meets expectations outlined in the enterprise-wide policies and governance requirements for operational and fraud risk management. The team will be responsible for executing new programs that govern, monitor and improve the POS Fraud extensive risk control inventory, creating and maintaining RCSAs and producing Risk Assessments.
Key Responsibilities -

  • Track portfolio performance against the risk appetite framework by calculating prescribed metrics and escalating breaches when appropriate, document root cause analysis and remediation plans
  • Execute on tasks related to aligned risk frameworks
  • Support timely updates of documentation and operational controls as new customer features & fraud capabilities are introduced
  • Conduct risk assessments for POS fraud
  • Conduct controls testing in accordance with Internal Controls Policy
  • Partner with functional experts across Point of Sale and other partner fraud teams.
  • Track and identify issues and fraud events as outlined by the Issues and Events Policy
Technical and Functional Skills/Capabilities:
  • Ability to drive results with strong thought leadership
  • Proficiency with Programming in SAS/SQL, HIVE, R/Python
  • Strong Analytical & Problem Solving Skills
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguous problems and be creative
  • Excellent Communication and Relationship Building Skills
  • Demonstrated Ability to Work Effectively and Collaborate with cross-functional business partners globally
  • Winning Attitude and Ability to lead projects
Academic Background:
MBA/Graduate Degree in Economics, Statistics Or related fields from a reputed Institute.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience managing operational risk events
Experience with risk control design, testing, and effectiveness and operational monitoring
Experience in process governance, with an understanding of processes that align with policies, regulatory frameworks, and/or operational standards
