The Opportunity:
  • To drive the transformation of processes and systems of the Alternative Investments business of HSBC AM. The role will cover Business Analysis work from a business perspective, on multiple projects and workstreams to support a growing business and de-risk our investment operations following a high level target operating model. Main responsibilities are, to analyze define and document change requirements and determine the impact on existing business process and functions. The successful candidate will work with Business Sponsors, Program and Project Managers, Data Management and IT teams. The successful candidate should ideally have relevant knowledge and proven experience on similar work on the Alternative Investments
What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do:
  • Coordinate and deliver a series of initiatives to improve existing Private Market systems and processes to a common data set, a seamless data transition between BO, MO and FO, and further improvements. Private Market includes various indirect and co-investment in Private Equity and Private Real Estate funds; other asset types could be launched or acquired in the future. Work with various parts of the Business (FO, Ops, Reporting\xe2\x80\xa6), IT and Data to deliver a client-centric solution to cover FO and MO needs. Coordinate with transversal projects on Data, Offshoring, ESG and others.
  • Define and document new business requirements.
  • Provide and assist with the management of adherence to scope and requirements (functional and non functional) to ensure the projects remain on track.
  • Document the target Operating Model, Business operating and Service models
  • Working with Project Management to help manage the dependencies analysis
  • Ensure there is a clear mapping of change by capturing the future state models and highlighting changes to the current processes so that they are effectively transferred into a set of core operating procedures
  • Manage an ongoing gap analysis and resolution of gaps with process driven solutions
  • Draft SLA\xe2\x80\x99s and continuity/Disaster Recovery modelling.
  • Where necessary, undertake Testing through Proof of Concept and UAT and ensure that systems testing requirements are provided to IT in advance of system testing and oversee SIT to ensure that test cases are reported and issues raised within this cycle prior to the business UAT.
  • Deliver the project in line with Group\xe2\x80\x99s Business Transformation Framework (BTF) and control methods
  • Initiate the project, obtaining authorisation to start the project and engaging with the project Sponsor
  • Support project and program managers on managing project scope, risks and issues
  • Produce the business case for the project, developing and reviewing costs estimates and using a value tree to surface benefits and outcomes of the investment
  • Drive a culture of achievement and ensure pace by identifying and removing barriers to project success
  • Promotes and takes accountability for project quality; identifies opportunities to improve delivery and oversees the governance process to reduce risk and ensure effective and timely decisions are taken
  • Adopts Group EPMO standards and best practice e.g., JIRA
  • Collaborates and builds positive stakeholder and business partner relationships, obtaining buy-in from partner stakeholders
  • Sets the pace and operating rhythm, driving a culture of achievement and ensures pace
  • Promotes the Group\xe2\x80\x99s Values and strategy by creating a positive work environment and promoting teamwork to drive engagement
Key Challenges
  • Implement new processes and systems in a business with limited existing documentation.
  • Change management of new roles and responsibilities, while moving from basic tools to industry standard solutions.
Observation of Internal Controls (Compliance Policy / FIM requirements)
  • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
  • Understands, follows, and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
  • Understand the Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles, HSBC Global Asset Management\xe2\x80\x99s TCF philosophy and how this affects your role. Act in a manner that takes account of these principles to ensure fair outcomes for customers
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:
  • Analytical expertise in operational and business change requirements
  • Ability to clearly articulate the project scope, manage/interpret the deliverables and translate theory into practical business solutions.
  • Write Management Approach Document, Terms of Reference, Business Requirement Document (BRD)
  • Draft Project Plans, and manage deliverables as per the plan
  • Manage multiple work streams with competing priorities
  • Process and data modeling
  • Expertise on Alternatives Investments Markets such as Private Markets, Private Debt/Capital, Real Assets/Real States, Venture capitalist
  • Implementation of platforms (Front to Middle) on Alternatives Investments such as Dynamo/eFront/Investran/Dealcloud/YardiWSO/Allvue/Mercatus
Role Dimensions (e.g., balance sheet size, lending/expenditure limits, size/volume of transactions, budget. in USD\xe2\x80\x99000)
  • Management of a typical project change budget with an order of magnitude around USD 1 million
