AI & Automation Solutions Engineer
What you will do
Let's do this. Let's change the world. This vital role offers a unique opportunity to join a fun, innovative engineering team within the AI & Data Science (AI&D) organization. You'll work on next-generation capabilities and services in Applied AI & Automation using innovative COTS products, open-source software, frameworks, tools, and cloud computing services. The role also emphasizes demonstrating these capabilities to support critical business operations and initiatives, in ensuring quality, compliance, and performance across Amgen's Applied AI & Automation Footprint.
The Sr Associate IS Engineer role is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing end-to-end Thoughtful automation solutions that meet business needs. This role collaborates with architects, testers, engineers and business analysts to build high-quality, scalable and best-in-class automated solutions using top technologies. The engineer should possess knowledge of system architecture, effective problem-solving skills, and the capability to communicate technical concepts clearly, supporting the delivery of robust and scalable automations.
Roles & Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and deploy automation workflows using SAP Build Process Automation (SAP BPA), UiPath, Power Automate, or Automation Anywhere, depending on system context and integration needs.
• Integrate LLMs and AI services into RPA pipelines for thoughtful document processing, contextual decision-making, summarization, chat-based interfaces, and GenAI-enhanced user workflows.
• Develop prompt frameworks, API connectors, and modular AI building blocks using Python, JavaScript, or similar languages.
• Build and orchestrate automated approval flows, document handling, and data integrations within SAP S/4HANA and SAP BTP, using BPA extensibility.
• Work with AI&D Teams and Business Process Owners to ensure automation aligns with AI&D's digital product strategy.
• Ensure Agile methodologies are strictly adhered to, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and iterative delivery of value.
• Stay ahead of with the latest AI/ML and GenAI tooling and actively contribute to internal knowledge-sharing forums
• Effective product demonstrations for internal and external collaborators.

What we expect of you

Master's degree / Bachelor's degree and 5 to 9 years of experience with software development technologies
Preferred Qualifications:
Functional Skills:
Must-Have Skills:

• Three years' experience with low-code/no-code technology software development like UiPath, Power Automate, SAP BPA
• Knowledge of agentic AI or agent-based automation such as AWS BDA, OpenAI, Langchain, Langgraph
• Three years' experience using Agile Methodologies to implement solutions
• Strong coding skills in C#, Python, JavaScript, or PowerShell for advanced bot development and AI service integration.
• Experience with REST APIs, JSON, OAuth, and event-driven architectures to connect RPA and AI workflows with backend systems.
• Experience in regulated industries such as biotech or healthcare

Good-to-Have Skills:

• Familiarity with SAP ecosystem tools such as SAP Workflow Management, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), and embedding AI capabilities into SAP-integrated processes.
• Jira Align experience
• Familiarity with GxP and systems validation

Soft Skills:

• Able to work under minimal supervision
• Excellent analytical and gap/fit assessment skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively with global, virtual teams
• High degree of initiative and self-motivation.
