The Dow Chemical Company has an exciting and challenging opportunity for an Administrative Operations Leader (OL) to be located at the in Chennai, India.

This role supports the development and management of the Administrative personnel within Central Engineering Chennai (CEC). The group of employees supervised consists of several disciplines across multiple job families: Project Coordination, Supplier Document Controls, Requisitioning, Project Information Managers, Site Focal Points and support services providers. The Administrative Operations Leader works with the Discipline Activity Specialist (DAS) and the Central Engineer Department Leader (CEDL) to ensure the appropriate staffing of all projects and initiatives at CEC. The OL is accountable for the productivity and quality of work performed on these efforts.

Core Job Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and manage group of Administrative professionals (1st level supervisor)
  • Accountable for the performance management process including setting goals, obtaining feedback, determining segmentation and salary planning.
  • Champions the employee development process and provides specific and actionable development opportunities.
  • Responsible for the safety performance of the work group.
  • Drives integrated execution across both Central Engineering centers in Houston and Chennai.
  • Effective resource management (Dow and non-Dow personnel) through planning future resources based on project workload and coordinating assignments of personnel to global projects to perform work consistent with project and department goals.
  • Ensures best-in-class project execution processes & methods are appropriately utilized.
  • Serves as liaison and interface to clients (Dow businesses, JV, etc.) and partners.
  • Owns day-to-day operations activities of the group (vacation planning, communication meetings, budget control and reporting, etc.)
  • Integrated member of the Central Engineering leadership team; executes the defined strategy through appropriate action and tactical decisions.
  • Defines goals and operational targets for the group.


Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
  • Strong project knowledge, business, and financial acumen.
  • Strong affinity for collaborating for superior results, delivering innovative solutions, leading courageously, and generating customer value.


Preferred Skills:
  • Engineering Background
  • People Leadership experience is preferred.
  • Has a strong influential management and understanding of business priorities and ability to persuade others (internal and external stakeholders) through effective communication.
  • Understanding project needs and ability to solve medium complex problems.
  • Strong work process knowledge and business acumen.
  • Familiarity of leading improvement projects and having accountability for on-going activities or initiatives, exhibiting strong work ethic and responsiveness to facilitate excellent Customer Experience.
  • Project Management Experience
