Job Description

The Activity Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing all guest activities at Mountain Shadows Resort. This includes nature-based experiences, wellness sessions, adventure activities, cultural programmes, and curated excursions around Wayanad. The role ensures that every guest enjoys a memorable, safe, and high-quality experiential stay aligned with the resort's luxury standards.

Key Responsibilities



A. Guest Experience & Program Design



Develop, schedule, and manage daily activity plans (treks, kayaking, plantation walks, cycling, birdwatching, cultural evenings, indoor/outdoor games, etc.). Personalize itineraries for guests based on interests, fitness level, and stay duration. Create unique luxury experiences exclusive to Mountain Shadows (sunset cruises, private picnics, romantic setups, wildlife storytelling, etc.).

B. Operations & Coordination



Oversee activity staff, naturalists, guides, and external partners. Ensure equipment, boats, cycles, safety gear, and activity areas are well maintained. Coordinate with housekeeping, F&B, and front office for seamless guest experience (welcome rituals, picnic baskets, transportation, timings). Maintain activity desk, communication boards, and digital scheduling.

C. Safety & Compliance



Conduct safety briefings for all adventure and water activities. Ensure compliance with resort SOPs, local forest/eco regulations, insurance requirements, and risk assessment protocols. Handle incident reporting and emergency response preparedness.

D. Guest Communication & Hospitality



Welcome guests at check-in and explain available activities. Actively interact with guests throughout their stay to upsell experiences. Handle special requests, VIP guest experiences, and last-minute changes smoothly. Collect guest feedback and ensure consistent 5-star experience ratings.

E. Administration



Maintain daily activity log, attendance, occupancy forecasts, and cost records. Prepare monthly activity reports and improvement plans. Manage budgets for activities, equipment purchases, and outsourced services.

Skills & Qualifications



Minimum 3-5 years of experience in activity management, hospitality operations, adventure tourism, or eco-tourism. Strong knowledge of nature-based experiences, Wayanad geography, flora & fauna, and local culture. Excellent communication skills in English; Malayalam/Hindi beneficial. Strong leadership and team management capability. Ability to create premium guest experiences.

Preferred



Certification in adventure tourism, first aid, wilderness safety, kayaking/boating certification, or naturalist training. Prior experience with luxury resorts or boutique nature retreats. Passion for outdoors, wildlife, and sustainability.

Personal Attributes



Warm, guest-focused, and proactive. Physically fit and comfortable leading treks/walks. Creative mindset for designing unique experiences. Strong problem-solving skills and calm under pressure. Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
