Job Description

:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Zabbix Monitoring Tools Administrator (L3) to manage

enterprise-level monitoring solutions within a managed services environment. The role involves

advanced Zabbix configuration, performance tuning, integration with ITSM tools, and basic database

administration skills to ensure smooth operation and optimal performance of the monitoring platform.

Having skills on other monitoring tools such as Nagios, SolarWinds, PRTG, SCOM, Dynatrace,

AppDynamics, etc., will be added advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Zabbix Monitoring Administration

? Install, configure, and upgrade Zabbix server, proxies, agents, and frontend components.

? Design and implement scalable and high-availability Zabbix architecture (HA, proxies, distributed

monitoring).

? Develop and manage custom templates, discovery rules, item prototypes, triggers, and

dashboards.

? Configure and fine-tune alerting rules, escalation paths, and maintenance windows.

? Integrate Zabbix with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow and Jira) using APIs, webhooks, or external

scripts.

2. Database Management (MySQL/PostgreSQL - Basic)

? Perform basic database tuning, backup, and restore for Zabbix backend DB (typically MySQL or

PostgreSQL).

? Write and optimize SQL queries for custom reports, dashboards, or data analysis.

? Monitor DB performance, identify slow queries, and collaborate with DBAs when needed.

3. Platform Performance & Optimization

? Analyze performance bottlenecks and optimize data collection intervals, history/trend settings.

? Purge old data and manage database housekeeper settings to prevent storage bloat.

4. Automation & Scripting

? Develop automation scripts for mass deployment, agent installation, and configuration

management using Bash, Python, or Ansible.

? Automate alert remediation steps or event enrichment for better incident context.

5. Monitoring Policy & Governance

? Define standards for monitoring templates, naming conventions, and alert thresholds.

? Periodically review configurations for consistency, noise reduction, and false positives.

? Ensure compliance with ITIL processes for change, incident, and problem management.

6. Operational Support

? Act as L3 escalation point for Zabbix-related incidents, performance issues, and integration

failures.

? Provide root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring monitoring issues.

? Mentor and guide L1/L2 teams on standard operating procedures and troubleshooting.

7. Reporting & Documentation

? Develop custom dashboards and reports for various teams (Infra (OS team), Application team,

Cloud team, etc.).

? Maintain documentation for all configurations, integrations, and operational procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

? 8+ years total experience, with at least 6 years in Zabbix-focused L3 support/admin role.

? Advanced knowledge of Zabbix 5.x or later, including distributed and proxy-based architecture.

? Experience with SNMP, IPMI, JMX, and HTTP agent monitoring.

? Basic to intermediate SQL skillswith MySQL or PostgreSQL*.

? Ability to write SELECT queries, perform data cleanup, backups, and manage

indexing/housekeeping.

? Shell scripting (bash), Python, or Ansible for automation and integrations.

? Strong in Linux (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu) system administration.

? Experience with AWS/Azure cloud monitoring and network device monitoring via SNMP.

? Familiarity with ServiceNow, Jira, or similar ticketing platforms via API or script-based integration.

? Recommended Certifications:

? Zabbix Certified Specialist / Professional

? ITIL Foundation Certification

? Linux Administration (RHCSA or equivalent)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹1,600,000.00 - ₹2,000,000.00 per year
