The Yard Manager will oversee and manage the storage, handling, and dispatch of
TMT bars, cement, aggregates, structural steel, and other construction materials
. The role includes supervising yard operations, ensuring accurate inventory management, maintaining safety standards, and coordinating with logistics and sales teams to ensure timely deliveries.
Key Responsibilities1. Yard Operations & Material Handling
Supervise day-to-day yard operations for TMT bars, structural steel, cement, and other materials.
Ensure proper
loading/unloading
and safe handling of heavy construction materials.
Manage segregation of materials by size, grade, and heat number (for TMT bars).
Ensure proper storage practices to prevent material rusting, bending, or damage.
Maintain clear yard layout for easy identification and movement of materials.
2. Inventory & Documentation
Maintain accurate stock records in ERP or manual systems.
Perform regular physical stock counts and reconcile with system data.
Maintain inventory records of TMT bar bundles, coils, cut-length materials, and finished goods.
Track inward/outward materials and generate daily MIS reports.
3. Logistics & Dispatch Coordination
Schedule and oversee dispatches as per sales orders.
Coordinate with transporters and logistics teams for timely vehicle placement.
Ensure loading follows correct weight distribution and safety protocols.
Track vehicle movement and ensure timely dispatch documentation (DC, e-way bill, invoice).
4. Manpower Management
Supervise yard supervisors, helpers, operators, and crane/forklift drivers.
Create shift schedules and ensure manpower availability during peak operations.
Train team members on material handling, safety, and SOPs.
5. Equipment & Maintenance
Oversee operation of cranes, forklifts, loading machines, and cutting/bending machines.
Ensure preventive maintenance and coordinate with maintenance teams for repairs.
Keep records of equipment availability, breakdowns, and performance.
6. Safety & Compliance
Ensure full compliance with safety protocols (PPE usage, equipment signage, load limits, etc.).
Conduct regular safety audits and toolbox meetings.
Ensure safe stacking of construction materials to avoid accidents and damage.
7. Coordination & Reporting
Coordinate with production, procurement, sales, and quality departments.
Share daily operational reports, stock reports, and dispatch summaries.
Report any material discrepancies, equipment issues, or safety incidents.
Required QualificationsEducation
Graduate / Diploma in Mechanical, Civil, Production, or related fields.
Additional certification in logistics/warehouse management is an advantage.
Experience
5-12 years of experience in yard/warehouse operations.
Mandatory experience in
TMT bars, structural steel, or construction materials
handling.
Skills
Strong knowledge of TMT bar grades, sizes, bundling, and identification.
Good understanding of construction materials storage and movement.
Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems.
Strong leadership and team management ability.
Knowledge of material handling equipment (cranes, forklifts, loaders).
Strong focus on safety, accuracy, and operational efficiency.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
