1. Position Overview
The WordPress Developer Intern will be a part of the web development team and will assist in the design, development, customization, optimization, and maintenance of WordPress-based websites and applications. This internship is designed to provide hands-on, real-world experience in WordPress development while working under the guidance of experienced developers and project managers.
The intern will gain exposure to modern web development practices, content management systems (CMS), front-end and back-end development concepts, website performance optimization, security best practices, and collaborative software development workflows. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates who are passionate about web technologies and eager to build a strong foundation in WordPress development.

3. Roles and Responsibilities3.1 WordPress Development
Assist in building, customizing, and maintaining WordPress websites based on project requirements
Work with WordPress themes (both pre-built and custom themes) to implement UI/UX designs
Customize WordPress plugins and develop basic custom plugins when required
Support the integration of third-party tools, APIs, and plugins
Implement responsive design principles to ensure compatibility across devices and browsers
3.2 Front-End Development Support
Write clean, well-structured HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript code
Assist in converting design mockups (Figma, Adobe XD, PSD) into functional WordPress pages
Optimize website layouts for performance, usability, and accessibility
Make UI enhancements based on user feedback and testing results
3.3 Back-End and CMS Support
Assist in configuring WordPress core settings, custom post types, taxonomies, and fields
Support PHP-based WordPress customization tasks under supervision
Help manage databases (MySQL) related to WordPress installations
Participate in content migration, data imports, and backups
3.4 Website Performance and Optimization
Assist in optimizing website speed and performance using caching, image optimization, and best practices
Identify and resolve basic performance bottlenecks
Support SEO-friendly development practices such as clean URLs, schema markup, and metadata integration
3.5 Security and Maintenance
Assist in implementing WordPress security best practices
Help update WordPress core, themes, and plugins while ensuring site stability
Monitor websites for common vulnerabilities and issues
Participate in routine maintenance tasks and quality assurance testing
3.6 Testing and Debugging
Conduct functional, UI, and cross-browser testing
Identify bugs, errors, and inconsistencies and assist in resolving them
Use debugging tools and browser developer tools to troubleshoot issues
Document issues clearly for senior developers
3.7 Collaboration and Documentation
Work closely with designers, developers, content creators, and project managers
Participate in daily or weekly stand-ups, sprint meetings, and project discussions
Maintain clear documentation for development tasks, changes, and workflows
Follow coding standards, version control practices, and internal development guidelines
4. Required Skills and Technical Knowledge4.1 Core Technical Skills
Basic to intermediate understanding of WordPress CMS
Familiarity with WordPress themes, plugins, and dashboard functionality
Knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and basic JavaScript
Basic understanding of PHP and how it is used in WordPress
Familiarity with MySQL databases and CMS-driven websites
4.2 Tools and Technologies
WordPress (latest versions)
Code editors such as VS Code, Sublime Text, or similar
Version control systems (Git/GitHub or GitLab - basic knowledge preferred)
Page builders such as Elementor, Gutenberg, or WPBakery (optional but advantageous)

5. Educational Qualifications
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree or diploma in:
