Job Summary

Asst. Production Manager: Wood-Works Overview

The Asst. Production Manager in a wood-works company is responsible for overseeing the manufacturing process of wood products, ensuring that production targets are met efficiently, safely, and within budget. This role requires a combination of technical knowledge, leadership skills, and an understanding of production management principles.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning and Scheduling

Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demands. Allocate resources, including labor, materials, and machinery, to ensure smooth production flow. Monitor production progress and make adjustments as necessary to meet deadlines.

Quality Control

Establish quality control standards and procedures. Ensure all products meet quality specifications and industry standards. Address and resolve quality issues promptly.

Team Management

Supervise and lead production staff, including hiring, training, and evaluating performance. Foster a positive and productive work environment. Address and resolve personnel issues.

Process Optimization

Identify opportunities to improve production processes and increase efficiency. Implement lean manufacturing techniques and other best practices. Conduct regular reviews and audits to identify areas for improvement.

Safety and Compliance

Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Implement and enforce safety protocols to protect workers and reduce accidents. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and standards.

Inventory Management

Oversee inventory levels of raw materials and finished products. Implement inventory control systems to minimize waste and optimize stock levels. Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials.

Technology and Equipment

Manage and maintain production equipment and machinery. Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment is in good working order. Evaluate and recommend new technologies or equipment to improve production capabilities.

Reporting and Documentation

Prepare and present production reports to senior management. Maintain accurate records of production activities, inventory, and quality control. Develop and implement documentation procedures for traceability and accountability.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, manufacturing, business management, or a related field.

Experience:

Several years of experience in a production or manufacturing role, preferably in the wood-works industry.

Technical Skills:

Knowledge of woodworking machinery, production techniques, and materials.

Leadership:

Strong leadership and team management skills.

Problem-Solving:

Ability to identify and resolve production issues quickly and efficiently.

Communication:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Organizational Skills:

Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Computer Skills:

Proficiency with production management software and other relevant technology.
