Job Description

:

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Wind Band and Music Educator to lead the development of wind band culture in India from the grassroots upward. Currently, there is very little formal teaching of brass and woodwind instruments in India. The few amateur orchestras that exist either make do without or have to import players from military bands or overseas for concerts.

This role involves establishing school and community wind bands and wind/brass sections of local amateur orchestras, training and building a community of local educators, and advocating for wind music education across various regions in India.

The applicant should have a love for experiencing new cultures, a desire to build a legacy, a willingness to work hard (and party hard), and an accommodating, understanding and compassionate disposition.

Key Responsibilities:

Establish and conduct wind ensembles across schools and communities

Mentor and train local music educators

Collaborate with schools, institutions, not for profit and cultural organizations

Organize concerts, workshops, and outreach events

Qualifications:

Minimum bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in any subject in music, or a related field.

Some experience in brass and/or woodwind teaching and/or band conducting

Good intercultural communication and collaboration skills

English speaking

Contract Terms:

Full-time position for minimum one year, with a renewable multi-year contract
