DIPLOMA MECHANICAL ENGINEERING (DME)

Role Overview

Ensures welding quality and structural integrity on offshore assets--rigs, pipelines, platforms, FPSOs--while strictly adhering to project specifications, international standards, and safety guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

Review and approve WPS/PQR, welder qualifications, material traceability, and inspection/test plans before commencement.


Monitor fit-up, root, hot, fill, and cap welding passes at defined hold and witness points.


Validate welding parameters like current, voltage, travel speed, interpass temperature, and heat input.


Conduct visual inspections for defects including undercut, porosity, cracks, lack of fusion, and dimensional control.


Coordinate and evaluate NDT methods (VT, MT, PT, UT, RT, PAUT/TOFD) and review test reports.


Manage nonconformances by raising NCRs, approving repair procedures, and witnessing rework.
