Welding Supervisor / Fabrication In-Charge

Job Purpose:

To perform high-quality welding operations on structural and pipe components of ships, ensuring strength, precision, and compliance with shipbuilding codes and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform

welding operations

(SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, TIG) on various materials such as

carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum

. Read and interpret

welding drawings, symbols, and fabrication sketches

. Prepare surfaces for welding through

grinding, cleaning, and fitting

as required. Weld ship structures such as

hull plates, frames, bulkheads, tanks, and pipe joints

. Ensure weld quality through

visual checks and adherence to WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications)

. Coordinate with fitters and supervisors for proper joint alignment before welding. Follow safety procedures strictly including

PPE usage, fire prevention

, and confined space protocols. Participate in

welding inspections and testing

such as

DPT, RT, UT

, etc. Maintain tools and welding equipment in good condition. Fill out welding logs, job cards, or quality checklists as per company requirements.

Required Qualifications:

ITI / NCVT Certificate in

Welding / Fabrication

2-5 years of experience

in marine or heavy structural welding Certified in relevant welding processes (e.g.,

3G/4G/6G positions

, ASME/ISO welding codes) preferred Experience working on ships, offshore platforms, or in heavy engineering

Key Skills:

Proficiency in multiple

welding techniques

(SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, TIG) Ability to work from

drawings and technical instructions

Understanding of

heat control, weld defects, and quality standards

Good

hand-eye coordination

, attention to detail, and physical fitness Knowledge of

shipyard safety standards

, including working in confined spaces or at heights

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
