Job Description

Read and interpret technical documents:

Study blueprints, sketches, engineering drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements.

Prepare materials:

Clean and prepare metal surfaces by grinding, cutting, and smoothing them before welding.

Set up equipment:

Assemble and set up welding equipment, including torches, power supplies, and other specialized machinery.

Weld and assemble:

Fuse metal pieces together using various techniques like arc welding, ensuring proper alignment and positioning.

Repair and fabricate:

Repair machinery and fabricate new products by welding, filling holes, or fixing seams.
Quality and safety

Inspect work:

Check welds for flaws and ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.

Monitor the process:

Oversee welding to prevent issues like overheating and to ensure the correct temperatures are maintained.

Follow safety protocols:

Adhere to all safety regulations, wear personal protective equipment (PPE), and ensure a risk-free work environment for themselves and others.

Maintain equipment:

Perform routine maintenance on welding machinery and tools to keep them in proper working order.
Collaboration and communication

Teamwork:

Work with other welders, mechanics, and team members to troubleshoot issues and complete projects.

Communication:

Clearly communicate with team members and supervisors regarding project requirements, issues, and safety concerns
