Job Summary

The Welder is responsible for carrying out welding, gas cutting, and repair works on plant equipment and structures to ensure safe and uninterrupted operation of the ferro alloys unit. The role involves maintenance of furnaces, conveyors, structural components, and other mechanical equipment.

Key Responsibilities1. Welding & Fabrication Work

Perform welding using

ARC, MIG, TIG, and Gas Welding

as per job requirements. Carry out gas cutting, gouging, and fabrication of plant components. Repair cracks, wear plates, chutes, hoppers, bins, ducts, and pipelines. Welding of furnace shell, furnace accessories, and structural supports.
2. Maintenance Activities

Support preventive, breakdown, and shutdown maintenance. Assist mechanical team during major repairs and overhauls. Repair conveyors, buckets, idlers, frames, and platforms. Perform hard-facing and buildup welding where required.
3. Safety & Compliance

Follow all safety procedures, hot work permit systems, and SOPs. Ensure proper use of PPE and fire safety equipment. Maintain welding equipment, gas cylinders, cables, and torches safely. Report unsafe conditions, near misses, and incidents.
4. Quality Control

Ensure welding quality as per specified standards and drawings. Check weld joints for strength, alignment, and finish. Minimize rework by maintaining proper welding techniques.
5. Housekeeping & Tools Care

Maintain good housekeeping at work area. Proper handling and storage of welding rods, electrodes, and tools. Ensure welding machines are in good working condition.
Qualification & Experience

Qualification:

ITI - Welder / Fitter (Welder trade preferred)

Experience:

2-6 years in Ferro Alloys / Sponge Iron / Steel / Power Plant Experience in heavy industrial welding is mandatory
Key Skills & Competencies

Proficiency in ARC & Gas welding (MIG/TIG preferred) Gas cutting & fabrication skills Ability to read basic drawings Knowledge of safety procedures Physically fit for plant working conditions
