The Weaving Supervisor oversees daily weaving operations to ensure efficient loom performance, quality fabric output, and smooth workflow. This role involves managing weavers, technicians, and helpers, maintaining optimal machine efficiency, reducing downtime, and ensuring production targets and quality standards are achieved
Key Responsibilities :
1. Production Management
Monitor and manage daily weaving operations to meet production targets.
Allocate looms and manpower effectively during each shift.
Ensure loom efficiency (L.E) and production rates are maintained or improved.
Supervise shift-wise production recording and reporting.
2. Quality Control
Ensure fabric quality meets specified standards (e.g., GSM, construction, appearance).
Identify and rectify weaving defects (e.g., broken picks, floats, oil stains, and wrong drafts).
Collaborate with the quality team to minimize rejection and rework rates.
3. Machine & Technical Management
Monitor the condition of weaving machines (Air jet, Rapier, Water jet, Shuttle, etc.).
Coordinate with maintenance technicians for preventive and corrective maintenance.
Ensure proper settings for warp, weft tension, harness, reed, speed, humidity, and air pressure.
Reduce machine stoppages and breakdown time.
4. Team Leadership
Supervise and guide weavers, fitters, helpers, and shift operators.
Conduct shift briefings and ensure proper handover between shifts.
Train staff on proper loom operation, safety, and troubleshooting techniques.
Motivate team to achieve productivity and quality goals.
5. Inventory & Material Handling
Ensure availability of weft yarn, beams, spares, and consumables.
Coordinate with warping and sizing departments for beam requirements.
Maintain accurate records of yarn waste, beam utilization, and loom downtime.
6. Safety & Compliance
Enforce workplace safety rules and proper use of PPE.
Maintain clean and organized weaving areas.
Comply with company policies, ISO standards, and audit requirements.
Qualifications & Skills :
Education
Diploma / Degree in Textile Technology or related field (preferred).
Equivalent experience in weaving operations may be accepted.
Experience
3-8 years of experience in weaving operations, with at least 1-3 years in a supervisory role.
Hands-on experience with specific machine types(Air jet / Rapier / Shuttle / Waterjet).
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of weave designs, loom settings, warp/weft parameters.
Knowledge of fabric construction and defect analysis.
Ability to read technical sheets, production reports, and quality specs.
