Job Description

Warehouse Operator in a pharmaceutical company holds a critical role that goes far beyond moving boxes. Because they handle life-saving medications and volatile raw materials, the role is strictly governed by Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Distribution Practices (GDP).

The primary goal is to ensure that the right material is in the right place, under the right conditions, with perfect documentation.

Core Responsibilities

The duties are generally divided into four key stages of the supply chain:

1. Receiving & Inspection

Unloading & Verification: Physically unload shipments and verify that the quantity and description match the Purchase Order (PO) and Bill of Lading (BOL). Visual Inspection: Check for damage, leaks, or broken security seals. In pharma, a compromised seal often means the material must be rejected. Quarantine Management: Move incoming materials into a "Quarantine" status/area until they are cleared by Quality Assurance (QA).
2. Storage & Environmental Monitoring

Temperature Control: Monitor and record storage temperatures (e.g., Ambient, Cold Chain bm{2^{circ}text{C}} to bm{8^{circ}text{C}}, or Frozen). Inventory Accuracy: Use Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) like SAP or Oracle to perform "Put-away" and ensure the digital record matches the physical location. Segregation: Ensure hazardous materials, controlled substances, and rejected goods are stored in their specifically designated, secure areas.
3. Dispensing & Production Support

Kitting: Pick raw materials and packaging (vials, labels, boxes) for production batches. FIFO/FEFO: Strictly follow "First-In, First-Out" or "First-Expired, First-Out" logic to minimize waste. Material Transfer: Safely transport materials into cleanroom airlocks or production staging areas, often requiring "de-dusting" or sanitizing outer packaging.
4. Shipping & Dispatch

Picking & Packing: Accurately pick finished goods for customer orders. Cold Chain Logistics: Pack temperature-sensitive products into validated thermal shippers with data loggers. Documentation: Generate packing lists, shipping labels, and Dangerous Goods declarations where applicable.
Mandatory Skills & Qualifications

Good Documentation Practices (GDP): The ability to record data clearly and accurately. In pharma, "if it isn't documented, it didn't happen." Technical Literacy: Proficiency with handheld RF scanners and ERP software (SAP is most common). Equipment Operation: Valid license for Forklifts (Reach trucks, Counterbalance) and Electric Pallet Jacks. Safety & Compliance: Understanding of OSHA safety standards and cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) regulations. Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long shifts in varying temperatures (including cold rooms).
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Inventory Accuracy: Maintaining bm{>99%} accuracy during cycle counts. Shipping Accuracy: Zero "wrong-product" or "wrong-quantity" shipments to hospitals or clinics. Compliance: Zero major observations during internal or regulatory (FDA/EMA) audits
