To provide high-quality nursing care to patients admitted to the ward, ensuring their physical, emotional, and psychological needs are met. The Ward Nurse works as part of a multidisciplinary team to promote recovery, maintain patient safety, and deliver evidence-based care.
Key Responsibilities:Patient Care:
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised nursing care plans for patients.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately and safely.
Monitor, record, and report changes in patients' conditions to senior staff or doctors.
Assist with personal care needs, such as hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and comfort.
Prepare patients for investigations, procedures, and discharge.
Clinical Duties:
Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation in accordance with hospital policies.
Ensure infection prevention and control standards are adhered to.
Manage medical equipment safely and report faults promptly.
Participate in ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings.
Communication:
Provide clear, compassionate communication with patients, families, and carers.
Collaborate effectively with doctors, allied health professionals, and other nursing staff.
Educate patients and families about treatment plans and post-discharge care.
Professional Development:
Participate in continuing education and training programs.
Maintain professional registration and adhere to nursing code of conduct.
Support and mentor junior staff, student nurses, and healthcare assistants.
Health & Safety:
Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Follow all hospital policies on incident reporting, manual handling, and emergency procedures.
Qualifications and Experience:
Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid nursing license/registration.
Diploma or Degree in Nursing.
Experience in general ward nursing or relevant specialty preferred (e.g., medical, surgical).
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
