Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Assist patients with mobility (shifting from bed to wheelchair, stretcher, etc.). Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of patient wards, beds, and surroundings. Support nurses and doctors in carrying out day-to-day patient care activities. Provide bedpans, urinals, and assist with patient toileting needs. Help in changing bed linens and maintaining a hygienic environment. Carry food, drinking water, and medicines to patients as directed by nursing staff. Transfer patients for diagnostic tests, operation theatres, and other departments. Dispose of medical waste as per hospital protocols. Assist in shifting deceased patients respectfully to the mortuary. Respond promptly to patient calls and inform the concerned nurse/doctor. Maintain confidentiality and treat patients with dignity and respect.

Skills & Competencies:

Basic knowledge of patient care and hygiene. Physical strength and stamina for lifting/shifting patients. Good communication and helping attitude. Ability to follow instructions from nurses and doctors. Awareness of infection control practices.

Qualifications:

Minimum: 8th / 10th Standard Pass. Prior experience in hospital or healthcare settings preferred. Basic training in patient handling is an added advantage.

Work Conditions:

Rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Exposure to patients, medical waste, and emergency situations.
