JOB DESCRIPTION - MALE WARDEN (COLLEGE HOSTEL)

1. Job Overview

The Male Warden is responsible for the overall administration, discipline, safety, and welfare of male students residing in the college hostel. He ensures a secure, hygienic, and well-regulated hostel environment.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Hostel Administration

Manage day-to-day hostel operations smoothly. Oversee room allotment and maintain updated occupancy records. Conduct routine inspections of the hostel premises for cleanliness and security. Coordinate with housekeeping, security, and maintenance teams.

B. Student Discipline & Welfare

Enforce hostel rules, regulations, and timings. Maintain discipline among students and address any misconduct. Listen to student complaints and resolve issues professionally. Conduct roll calls and monitor student movements during entry/exit.

C. Safety & Security

Ensure safety and security of hostel residents at all times. Monitor visitors and maintain the visitor entry register. Handle emergencies promptly and inform higher authorities. Ensure functioning of fire safety systems and emergency exits.

D. Maintenance & Facilities

Ensure cleanliness in rooms, corridors, bathrooms, and common areas. Report maintenance issues (water, electricity, repairs) and follow up for completion. Ensure proper functioning of amenities provided to students.

E. Documentation & Reporting

Maintain daily records of attendance, complaints, incidents, and maintenance. Submit regular reports to the Hostel Superintendent/Principal. Maintain discipline logs and student behaviour reports when necessary.

3. Qualifications & Skills Required

Any degree (preferred). 2-5 years experience as a Hostel Warden / Residential Supervisor. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage college students firmly but fairly. Physically fit and able to handle emergencies.

4. Working Conditions

Residential position

- must stay inside the campus. Should be available during nights, weekends, and emergencies.
