The Volunteer Coordinator plays a pivotal role in sustaining Yein Udaan's volunteer community by ensuring a steady pipeline of committed volunteers, delivering smooth onboarding experiences, facilitating meaningful engagement, and maintaining strong volunteer relationships. This role is ideal for someone who is people-oriented, highly organised, and passionate about community-driven impact.
Key Responsibilities
1. Volunteer Recruitment & Pipeline Development
Build and maintain a strong volunteer pipeline at the start of every school term.
Actively identify and close open volunteer positions arising from exits or no-shows.
Keep the volunteer database updated with accurate records.
2. Volunteer Onboarding & Orientation
Ensure timely and thorough orientation for all new volunteers and interns.
Communicate expectations, responsibilities, schedules, and organisational culture clearly.
Ensure all onboarding documents and agreements are completed and stored systematically.
3. Volunteer Performance Tracking & Debriefs
Conduct periodic check-ins and termly performance debriefs for all volunteers.
Gather feedback on attendance, engagement, student impact, and areas of growth.
Collaborate with the Education Coordinator to understand volunteer classroom performance and student outcomes.
4. Reporting & Documentation
Prepare concise volunteer debrief reports for leadership, summarising insights, successes, challenges, and recommendations.
Submit reports in a timely manner with clear, actionable insights.
5. Volunteer Engagement & Retention
Design and execute a volunteer engagement calendar that includes events, celebrations, and community-building opportunities.
Identify and implement improvement initiatives to elevate volunteer experience and program effectiveness.
Support strong volunteer retention through relationship-building and responsive communication.
6. Exit Feedback & Continuous Improvement
Conduct exit conversations with all departing volunteers and interns, and share learnings with leadership.
Integrate feedback into strengthening recruitment, onboarding, and engagement processes.
Core Competencies
Strong people and relationship-building skills
Clear communication (English mandatory; Tamil preferred)
Proactive with ideas and able to manage timely deadlines
Expert with Google Suite, documentation, and reporting
Work Hours & Compensation
20-30 hours per week
with some flexibility based on volunteer needs
Compensation:
?15,000-25,000 per month depending on experience
