Roles and Responsibilities of a Vocal Western Music Teacher.(Keyboard / Guitar / Piano)

Teaching & Instruction

Teach

Western vocal music

including breathing techniques, voice modulation, pitch control, diction, and vocal health. Train students in

solo and group singing

, harmony, and choir techniques. Provide instrumental instruction and accompaniment using

keyboard, piano, and/or guitar

. Teach

Western music theory

: notation, scales, chords, intervals, rhythm, and harmony. Develop students'

listening skills, sight-singing, and ear training

. Adapt lessons to suit

different age groups and skill levels

.
Lesson Planning & Curriculum Development

Plan structured vocal and instrumental lessons aligned with

school curriculum or music boards

(ABRSM, Trinity, Rockschool, etc.). Design progressive learning pathways from beginner to advanced levels. Select appropriate

repertoire

across Western genres (classical, pop, jazz, contemporary). Incorporate

warm-ups, vocal exercises, and practice routines

.
Student Assessment & Progress

Assess students'

vocal quality, pitch accuracy, rhythm, expression, and instrumental skills

. Maintain records of attendance, practice, and performance progress. Provide

constructive feedback

and individualized coaching. Prepare students for

music examinations, concerts, competitions, and recitals

.
Classroom & Studio Management

Maintain a

safe, organized, and disciplined music classroom/studio

. Ensure proper handling and maintenance of

instruments and sound equipment

. Manage rehearsals, practice schedules, and ensemble sessions. Follow health and safety guidelines, including

vocal care and posture awareness

.
Performance & Event Responsibilities

Train and direct

choirs, bands, and vocal ensembles

. Accompany students during performances using

keyboard, piano, or guitar

. Prepare students for

school events, assemblies, cultural programs, and concerts

. Teach stage presence, microphone technique, and performance etiquette. Coordinate sound setup and rehearsal logistics.
Creativity & Musical Development

Encourage

creativity, improvisation, and basic composition

. Introduce students to

harmony, backing vocals, and ensemble singing

. Foster confidence, teamwork, and musical expression.
Communication & Professional Responsibilities

Communicate student progress with

parents, school management, and colleagues

. Collaborate with dance, drama, and cultural departments for performances. Participate in

professional development, workshops, and training

. Contribute to extracurricular music clubs and school initiatives.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹28,000.00 - ₹38,000.00 per month
