Job Description

We are seeking an experienced VMC Setter to join our team. The role requires a skilled individual who can effectively set up and operate Vertical Machining Centers to produce high-quality precision components. Below are the key requirements for this position:

Experience

: A minimum of 4-5 years of hands-on experience as a VMC Setter is essential. Experience with a variety of VMC machines and control systems is highly desirable.

Technical Knowledge

: Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) symbols is necessary. A strong understanding of machining principles, tooling selection, and cutting parameters is also required.

Machine Setup

: Ability to independently set up VMC machines, including fixture and workpiece clamping, tool selection, tool offset adjustment, and machine parameter configuration for optimal performance.

Programming Skills

: Familiarity with CNC programming languages (G-code, M-code) and CAM software for toolpath generation is preferred. The capability to make minor program edits and troubleshoot programming issues is advantageous.

Quality Assurance

: Diligence in performing in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, etc.) to ensure dimensional accuracy and adherence to specifications.

Safety Compliance

: Strict adherence to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment. Knowledge of machine guarding, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), and safe operating practices is mandatory.

Problem-Solving Abilities

: Proven ability to identify and troubleshoot machining issues such as tool wear, chip evacuation problems, and machine malfunctions to minimize downtime and optimize productivity.

Team Collaboration

: Willingness to collaborate with colleagues, including machinists, engineers, and supervisors, to achieve production goals, resolve challenges, and continuously improve processes.

Adaptability

: Capacity to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with changing priorities and deadlines. Flexibility to accommodate overtime and shift work may be required based on production schedules.

Continuous Learning

: Eagerness to stay updated on advancements in machining technology, tooling innovations, and industry best practices through self-study, training programs, and participation in professional development activities
