Machining Knowledge

: Understanding of machining processes, tooling, feeds, speeds, and material properties is crucial.

CAD/CAM Proficiency

: Ability to use Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to create 3D models and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software to generate toolpaths and G-code.

G-code Programming

: Proficiency in writing, editing, and troubleshooting G-code, which is the programming language used to control CNC machines.

Technical Drawing Interpretation

: Capability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications to translate design requirements into machining operations.

Problem Solving

: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to optimize machining processes, troubleshoot issues, and ensure efficient production.

Attention to Detail

: Precision is critical in machining; a VMC programmer must pay close attention to dimensions, tolerances, and quality standards.

Communication Skills

: Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, machinists, and other team members to ensure clear understanding of requirements and objectives.

Continuous Learning
