responsible for programming, setting up, and operating Vertical Machining Centers to produce precision components as per engineering drawings, quality standards, and production schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, edit, and optimize
VMC programs
using G-code as per component drawings.
Set up machines including fixture alignment, tool selection, tool offsets, and zero setting.
Operate VMC machines to manufacture components with high dimensional accuracy.
Read and interpret
engineering drawings, tolerances, and GD&T symbols
.
Perform
first-off inspection
and in-process checks using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and height gauges.
Monitor machining parameters and make corrections to ensure quality and productivity.
Maintain proper tool life management and coordinate tool changes.
Identify machining issues and troubleshoot machine, tooling, and program-related problems.
Ensure adherence to
safety procedures
, housekeeping (5S), and quality norms.
Maintain production records, inspection reports, and daily machine logs.
Support continuous improvement in cycle time reduction and process optimization.
Required Skills & Qualifications
ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum
2-5 years experience
as a VMC Programmer and Operator.
Hands-on experience with
Fanuc / Siemens / Haas / Mitsubishi
controllers (any).
Strong knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, and materials.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Good understanding of quality standards and inspection techniques.
Preferred Skills
Experience in batch and job-work production.
Knowledge of CAM software (optional).
Exposure to ISO / QA documentation is an added advantage
