Job Description

A VMC (Vertical Machining Center) Operator sets up and runs CNC machines to produce precise metal or plastic parts, requiring them to read blueprints, load materials, select tools, adjust machine settings (like feed rates using G/M codes), perform quality checks with measuring instruments, and conduct basic machine maintenance, ensuring efficiency and adherence to technical specifications.Key Responsibilities:

Machine Setup:

Load raw materials, install and set tools, and input program parameters (offsets, feed rates) for specific jobs.

Operation:

Operate the VMC to machine parts, adjusting settings for optimal performance, surface finish, and tool life.

Quality Control:

Inspect finished parts using precision tools (calipers, micrometers) to confirm they meet drawing specifications.

Programming:

Modify existing G-code/M-code programs or perform basic programming using CAM software (like Mastercam).

Maintenance:

Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and basic troubleshooting of the machine.

Documentation:

Record production data and machine performance.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:

Experience operating VMC/CNC machines. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings/blueprints. Knowledge of G-code, M-code, tool offsets, and feed/speed settings. Familiarity with materials (metals, plastics) and tooling. Attention to detail and commitment to quality. High school diploma or vocational training in machining.
