Visa Counsellor

Position Overview

The Visa Counsellor will advise clients (students, professionals, travellers, or families) on visa options, assess eligibility, assist with documentation, guide the application & interview process, and keep abreast of immigration/visa regulations. They will be the key client-facing point ensuring a smooth, timely & compliant visa application process. (Expertia)

Key Responsibilities

Consult with clients to understand their objectives (study/work/travel/family visa) and determine suitable visa categories. (Expertia) Assist clients in preparing and reviewing visa application documentation (forms, financial proofs, academic transcripts, sponsor letters) and ensure completeness/accuracy. Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience



Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., international studies, law, business, counselling) or equivalent work experience. (Expertia) Prior experience in visa counselling, immigration consultancy, study-abroad advisory or related fields preferred. (Expertia) Sound understanding of visa/immigration regulations for key destination countries (for example: Australia, UK, Canada, US) is a plus. (Glassdoor)

Excellent oral & written communication skills (English; additional languages beneficial). Strong interpersonal skills: ability to empathise with clients, understand their concerns, explain complex requirements in simple terms. High attention to detail: errors in visa applications/documentation can lead to rejection. (Indeed) Good organisational and time-management skills: handling multiple client cases at various stages simultaneously. Ability to adapt to changing visa/immigration rules and adjust advice accordingly. Customer service orientation and maintaining professional ethics/confidentiality. Familiarity with documentation and record-keeping systems (CRMs, case-tracking) is advantageous.
Reporting & Working Conditions

Reports to the Head of Counselling / Operations Manager / Team Lead in the visa/immigration services unit. Full-time position, may involve client walk-ins, phone/email/online counselling, sometimes working extended hours depending on deadlines or time-zones. Based in an office (consultancy firm) or branch, with possible travel for client meetings or education fairs.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Number of client cases counselled/handled per month. Visa application submission rate on time. Visa approval (grant) success rate (if measurable). Client satisfaction/feedback score. Compliance with process timelines and documentation accuracy.
